Introduction An international entomological expedi- tion to Kazakhstan arranged by M. L. Da- nilevsky in June 2005 included five per- sons, three entomologists from Russia, Galina Borisovna Danilevskaya, Mik- hail Leontievich Danilevsky, Andrey Mikhailovich Shapovalov and two from Germany, Karl Hadulla and Ya- heita Yokoi. The main base of the expe- dition was situated in Khamir river valley near Putintzevo village in East Kazakhstan, 49°53’N, 84°23’E (Fig. 1). Cherepanov (1979). Development of larvae in Siberia was observed in dead roots of Pinus far from the main trunk of the tree, pupation in soil, adults on flowers. 4. Brachyta interrogationis (Linnaeus, 1758) – several specimens collected on Paeonia. An ordinary Palaearctic species distributed from Spain to Far East of Rus- sia, Korea and China. The bionomy was described in details by A. I. Cherepanov (1979). Development of larvae in Siberia was usually observed in roots of living Paeonia, but sometimes in roots of Eu- phorbia and Radiola, in laboratory the oviposition also took place in soil near roots of Trollius, pupation in soil, adults on flowers of many different plants. 5. Acmaeops smaragdulus (Fabricius, 1792) – a single male was collected by Yokoi on Umbeliferae. The species is dis- tributed from France (Sama 2002) to the Far East of Russia Korea and China. It is rather rare in Europe, but very numerous in Siberia. The species was never before recorded for Kazakhstan, so it is our first Abstract. An ordinary Palaearctic species distrib-uted from Spain to East Siberia. Develop-ment under the bark of different deaddeciduous trees, adults on flowers.

Development of larvae in Siberiawas usually observed in roots of livingPaeonia, but sometimes in roots of Eu-phorbia and Radiola, in laboratory theoviposition also took place in soil nearroots of Trollius, pupation in soil, adultson flowers of many different plants.

record for the Republic. Developmentunder the dead bark of coniferous trees(Picea, Pinus, Abies, Larix), pupation insoil, adults on flowers.

6. Gnathacmaeops pratensis (Laichart-ing, 1784) – a single male collected byShapovalov. An ordinary Palaearcticspecies distributed from Spain to FarEast of Russia, Korea and China, as wellas in Central Asia, Near East and Cauca-sus. Development under the dead bark ofconiferous trees (Picea, Pinus), pupationin soil, adults on flowers.

7. Dinoptera collaris (Linnaeus, 1758) –several specimens collected on flowers.An ordinary Palaearctic species distrib-uted from Portugal to the West Siberia aswell as in Near East and Caucasus. Devel-opment under the dead bark of differentdeciduous trees, pupation in soil, adultson flowers.

8. Alosterna tabacicolor erythropus (Geb-ler, 1841) – many specimens collectedon flowers. The taxon was usuallyrecorded as A. t. bivittis (Motschulsky,1860); Leptura erythropus Gebler, 1841was described from Altai. The originaldescription totally fits to Altai specimensof A. tabacicolor (DeGeer, 1775). Gram-moptera bivittis Motschulsky, 1860 wasdescribed from the area eastwards Baikalbelongs to the same taxon as A. tabacicol-or from Altai, no other species of Aloster-na are known from Altai. Consequently,Leptura erythropus Gebler, 1841 =Grammoptera bivittis (Motschulsky,1860), syn. nov. Usually the combinationGrammoptera erythropus ingrica (Baeck-mann, 1902) was used (Plavilstshikov1936), but Alosterna ingrica has no con-nection with Alosterna tabacicolor ery-thropus and is absent in Altai.

Alosterna tabacicolor is an ordinary Palae-arctic species distributed from Spain toJapan, as well as in Caucasus, Turkeyand Iran and represented by a number ofsubspecies; A. t. erythropus is distributedfrom West Siberia to Japan. Develop-ment in dead fungoid substrate underthe bark, inside the bark and in wood ofdifferent deciduous and coniferous trees,pupation in wood, adults on flowers.

9. Pseudovadonia livida pecta (K. & J. Da-niel, 1891) – several specimens collectedon flowers. Pseudovadonia livida (Fabri-cius, 1776) is an ordinary Palaearcticspecies distributed from Spain to East

Siberia, as well as in Caucasus and NearEast and represented by a number of sub-species, which geographical and mor-phological limits are not clear goodenough. Pseudovadonia l. pecta is distrib-uted from East Europe to East Siberia, re-cently it was recorded for Kirgizia (Ovt-chinnikov 1996). The development wasdescribed by B. Burakowski (1979). Lar-vae in soil with mycelium of Marasmiusoreades, pupation in soil inside speciallyconstructed cocoons, adults of flowers.

10. Anastrangalia sequensi (Reitter,1898) – numerous specimens collected onflowers (mostly on Heracleum). An ordi-nary Siberian species distributed east-wards to Japan, but penetrates in Europenear Central Urals. The species was not in-cluded in Kazakhstan fauna by I. A. Kostin(1973). According to him all records of A.sequensi for Kazakhstan were identified asA. sanguinolenta (Linnaeus, 1761), andthe record of A. sequensi for “Burabay”(Kadyrbekov et al. 2003) in Kokchetavregion must be another species, mostprobably A. reyi (Heyden, 1885). Larvaein decaying wood of different coniferoustrees (Pinus, Picea, Abies, Larix), pupationin wood, adults on flowers.

11. Lepturobosca virens (Linnaeus, 1758)– several specimens collected on flowers(mostly on Heracleum). An ordinaryPalaearctic species distributed fromSpain to Far East Russia, Korea and Chi-na, very numerous in Siberia. Develop-ment in rotten wood of different conifer-ous trees (Pinus, Picea, Abies), but alsoknown from Betula, pupation in wood,adults on flowers.

12. Pachytodes erraticus (Dalman, 1817)– several specimens collected on flowers.An ordinary Palaearctic species distrib-uted from Spain to East Siberia; develop-ment in rotten roots of different decidu-ous trees under the soil level; pupation insoil; adults on flowers.

13. Oedecnema gebleri Ganglbauer,1889 – several specimens collected onflowers. An ordinary Siberian species dis-tributed also in Korea, China and Japan,westwards to the Ukraine. Developmentin rotten roots of different deciduous andconiferous trees from Quercus and Salixto Pinus and Abies under the soil level,pupation in soil, adults on flowers.

14. Leptura thoracica (Creutzer, 1799)– several specimens collected by Hadul-

la on dead Betula trunk. An ordinarySiberian species distributed also in Ko-rea, China and Japan. Distributed west-wards to Croatia, Poland and Slovakia,but in Europe rather rare. Developmentin rotten wood of different deciduoustrees, pupation in wood, adults some-times visit flowers.

15. Leptura quadrifasciata quadrifasciataLinnaeus, 1758 – several specimens col-lected on flowers. An ordinary Palaearc-tic species distributed from Spain toJapan. In Caucasus L. quadrifasciata cau-casica (Plavilstshikov, 1924) occurs,which is also known from Iran andTurkey. Development in rotten wood ofdifferent deciduous trees, but sometimesreported from Picea and Pinus, pupationin wood, adults on flowers.

16. Leptura annularis annularis Fabri-cius, 1801 – many specimens collectedon flowers. An ordinary Palaearcticspecies distributed from Spain to Japan.In Japan and several Russian Far East is-lands Leptura a. mimica Bates, 1884 oc-curs. Development in rotten wood of dif-ferent deciduous trees, but sometimes re-ported from Picea and Abies, pupation inwood, adults on flowers.

17. Leptura duodecimguttata Fabricius,1801 – many specimens collected onflowers. An ordinary Siberian species dis-tributed from West Siberia to Japan. De-velopment in rotten wood of differentdeciduous trees, pupation in wood,adults on flowers.

18. Lepturalia nigripes rufipennis (Bless-ing, 1873) – several specimens collectedon flowers. Lepturalia nigripes (DeGeer,1775) is an ordinary east-palaearcticspecies distributed from Austria and Slova-kia to the Far East Russia, Korea and Chi-na. The nominate European subspecies(with yellow elytra) is distributed east-wards to Urals, where a transitional zoneis situated. In the east part of EuropeanRussia and in West Siberia populations ofdifferent subspecies are intermixed, inOrenburg region several populations areknown to be consisted of both color forms.Very few specimens with red elytra can befound in West Europe inside the area ofthe nominative subspecies, but specimenswith yellow elytra are not known fromEast Siberia and further eastwards. De-velopment in rotten wood of different de-ciduous trees, but prefer Betula and Popu-lus, pupation in wood, adults on flowers.

19. Strangalia attenuata (Linnaeus, 1758)– many specimens collected on flowers. Anordinary Palaearctic species distributedfrom Spain to Japan, as well as in Cauca-sus, Iran and Turkey. Development usu-ally in rotten wood of different decidu-ous trees, but often in coniferous trees,pupation in wood, adults on flowers.

20. Stenurella melanura (Linnaeus,1758) – many specimens collected onflowers. An ordinary Palaearctic speciesdistributed from Portugal to Japan, aswell as in Caucasus, Iran and Turkey. De-velopment in rotten wood of differentdeciduous and coniferous trees, often inroots near at soil level as well as in fallentwigs and small stems, pupation in wood,adults on flowers.

21. Necydalis major major Linnaeus,1758 – a single specimen collected byHadulla. An ordinary Palaearctic speciesdistributed from Spain to Japan, as wellas in Caucasus and Turkey, where it isvery rare. In Japan and several RussianFar East islands Necydalis major ainoKusama, 1975 occurs. Development indead wood of many various deciduoustrees, pupation in wood, adults occasion-ally on flowers.

22. Asemum striatum (Linnaeus, 1758) –several specimens collected. An ordinaryPalaearctic species distributed fromSpain to Japan, as well as in Caucasus,Turkey and Kirgizia. development indead fresh wood of many various conif-erous trees, usually near the base oftrunks, pupation in wood; adults on thebark of food-plants, usually active in twi-light and in the night.

23. Amarysius sanguinipennis Blessing,1872 – a single flying specimen collectedby Danilevskaya. Rather rare Far Eastspecies traditionally known from Ussuriregion, Korea, China and Japan; some-times was collected in Amur andKhabarovsk regions. Found westwards toTomsk and Russian Altai by Cherepanov(1982). It was recently recorded for Ud-murtia in the east part of European Russia(Dedyukhin 2007), and now in EastKazakhstan – first record for the Republic.According to Cherepanov (1982) adultsinfest growing thin twigs (Quercus, Acer,Betula, Corylus, Lespedeza), which thendie, development and pupation in wood.

24. Amarysius altajensis altajensis Lax-mann, 1770 – several specimens collect-

ed on the bark of Acer and Padus and onflowers of Rosa and Viburnum. The cur-rent populations can be classified as typ-ical. An ordinary east-palaearctic speciesdistributed from East Kazakhstan to FarEast Russia, Korea and China. A poorlydifferentiated subspecies A. altajensis us-suricus Tsherepanov in Tsherepanov &Tsherepanova, 1975 was describedfrom the Ussuri region. According to ourmaterials the area of the subspecies canbe accepted westwards to about LakeBaikal, but the taxon was describedmuch earlier from Korea as Anoplistesephippium var. coreanum Okamoto, 1924.Consequently Anoplistes ephippium core-anum Okamoto, 1924 = A. altajensis us-suricus Tsherepanov in Tsherepanov &Tsherepanova, 1975, syn. nov., and thevalid name of the taxon is Amarysius al-tajensis coreanus (Okamoto, 1924), comb.nov. According to Cherepanov (1982)adults infest growing thin twigs (Padus,Crataegus, Salix, Quercus, Juglans, Acer,Fraxinus, Betula, Corylus, Lespedeza,Rosa, Hippophae, Maackia and others),after the twigs die, development and pu-pation in wood.

25. Amarysius duplicatus Tsherepanov,1980 – several hundreds of specimenscollected on flowers of Spiraea. A rela-tively rare Siberian species. It was de-scribed from Salair Range near Novosi-birsk (type locality) and from Tuva Re-public of Russia, later recorded for Russ-ian Primorye and Amur regions (Dani-levsky 1998), it was also collected byKostin near Ust-Kamenogorsk in 1960,but identified as A. altajensis, and fur-thermore collected at that locality by A.Napolov in 1994 – (Danilevsky 2009,www.cerambycidae.net), but correspon-ding information was not published. Thisis the first published record of the speciesfor Kazakhstan. Development is knownonly in Spiraea, adults infest growingthin twigs, after they die. Developmentand pupation in wood, beetles were ob-served by us on Spiraea flowers in verybig number.

26. Molorchus minor minor (Linnaeus,1758) – several specimens collected onflowers. An ordinary Palaearctic speciesdistributed from Spain to Japan, as wellas in Georgia. In Japan and Several Russ-ian Far East islands the subspeciesMolorchus minor fuscus Hayashi, 1955 isknown. Development under the bark offresh, dead twigs and thin stems of dif-ferent coniferous trees as Pinus, Picea,

Abies, Larix, Cupressus, but sometimes re-ported for Betula, pupation in wood,adults on flowers.

27. Echinocerus floralis (Pallas, 1773) –several specimens collected on flowers.An ordinary Palaearctic species distrib-uted from Spain to the East Siberia, aswell as in Caucasus, Near East and Cen-tral Asia. Oviposition in soil near stems offood-plants, larvae in roots of Medicago(usually), Euphorbia, Achillea, Onobrychis,Melilotus, Amaranthus, adults on flowers.

28. Rhaphuma gracilipes (Faldermann,1835) – several specimens collected onflowers. An ordinary east-palaearcticspecies distributed from Poland to Japan,but rather rare in Europe. Developmentin freshly dead twigs and stems underthe bark, then in wood of different decid-uous plants usually in Betula, Acer, Quer-cus, Tilia, Ulmus and many others, some-times in Aralia, Vitis, Spiraea, Syringa,Euonymus, Daphne, Micromeles, but alsoreported (Cherepanov 1982) from Abies,Larix and Junipers. Pupation in wood,adults on flowers.

29. Xylotrechus capricornis (Gebler,1830) – several specimens on the bark ofBetula collected by Hadulla, Shapoval-ov and Yokoi. Relatively rare species dis-tributed from Czechia and Poland toWest Siberia, known for Kazakhstan(Kostin 1973) on base of a single speci-men collected near Karkaralinsk (Kara-ganda region). First report for North-East Kazakhstan. Larvae under the barkthen in wood of freshly dead Betulatrunks, pupation in wood.

30. Xylotrechus ibex (Gebler, 1825) – fourspecimens collected on the bark of Betulaby Hadulla. An ordinary west-palaearcticspecies distributed from Germany andPoland to Russian Far East, Korea andChina. It is very abundant in Siberia, butvery rare in West Europe. From Kaza-khstan it was known only from the North-West part of the Republic (Ural river val-ley), so now it is the first record for North-East Kazakhstan. Development under thebark of freshly dead deciduous trees pre-ferring Betula, but also reported for Alnus,Carpinus, Ulmus; pupation inside the bark(Cherepanov 1982) or in wood (Bense1995), according to Cherepanov (1982)adults never visit flowers.

31. Xylotrechus rusticus (Linnaeus,1758) – many specimens collected. An

ordinary Palaearctic species distributedfrom Portugal to Japan, as well as in Cau-casus, Iran, Turkey and Central Asia. Lar-vae under the bark then in wood of fresh-ly dead deciduous trees preferring Popu-lus, often in Betula and Salix, but also re-ported from Tilia, Acer, Sorbus, Ulmus,Castanea, Quercus and others. Pupationin wood, adults very often can be seen onthe bark of food-plants.

32. Xylotrechus adspersus (Gebler, 1830)– several specimens collected on the barkof Populus by Hadulla. An ordinarywest-palaearctic species distributed fromWest Siberia to Japan. Oviposition takesplace on living twigs; larvae under thebark then in wood of Salix, also knownfrom Chosenia, pupation in wood.

33. Cyrtoclytus capra (Germar, 1824) –several specimens collected on flowers.An ordinary Palaearctic species distrib-uted from France to Japan, which israther rare and sporadic in West Europe,but very numerous in Siberia. Develop-ment in solid dead wood of very manydeciduous trees from Betula, Quercus andSorbus to Euonymus, Vitis and Aralia,though in West Europe the range of food-plants seems to be rather narrow (Acer,Anus), pupation in wood.

34. Clytus arietoides Reitter, 1899 – manyspecimens collected on the bark of Abies.An ordinary east-palaearctic species dis-tributed from the north-east of EuropeanRussia to Japan. Development under thedead bark of many coniferous trees (Pi-nus, Picea, Abies, Larix), pupation inwood, adults often on flowers.

35. Mesosa myops (Dalman, 1817) –many specimens collected on trunks ofdifferent deciduous trees – mostly onPadus. An ordinary east-palaearcticspecies distributed from Poland to FarEast Russia, Korea and China; develop-ment under the bark of many rather dif-ferent dead deciduous trees (often inQuercus), pupation also under the bark,but sometimes in wood, adults on thebark of food-plants.

36. Monochamus saltuarius Gebler,1830 – several specimens collected onAbies. An ordinary Palaearctic species

distributed from Portugal to Japan, butmuch more numerous in Siberia. Devel-opment under the freshly dead bark andthen in wood of many coniferous trees,but usually in Picea and Abies, pupationin wood, adults on food-plants.

37. Monochamus galloprovincialis pistor(Germar, 1818) – several specimens col-lected on Pinus. An ordinary Palaearcticspecies distributed from Italy to Japan. InFrance and Iberian Peninsula a nomina-tive subspecies (with red head and an-tennae) is distributed. Development un-der the freshly dead bark and then inwood of Pinus, pupation in wood, adultson food-plants.

38. Monochamus urussovii (Fischer,1806) – several hundreds of specimenscollected on Abies logs. An ordinary east-palaearctic species distributed fromPoland to Japan. Development in manyconiferous trees, but usually in Picea andAbies, only in Siberia the species often in-fests Betula. Larvae under the freshlydead bark and then in wood, pupation inwood; adults on food-plants.

39. Lamia textor (Linnaeus, 1758) – sev-eral specimens collected on the soil. Anordinary Palaearctic species distributedfrom Spain to Japan, as well as in Cauca-sus, Iran, Turkey. Oviposition takes placeat the bases of living trunks; larvae inbases of trunks and in roots, under thebark then in living wood of several decid-uous trees preferring Populus and Salix,but also in Betula, Alnus, Morus, pupa-tion in wood, adults often can be seen onthe soil.

40. Rhopaloscelis unifasciatus Blessig,1873 – a single specimen accidentallycollected 9.VI.2005 by Hadulla on thestem of Artemisia. An ordinary Far Eastspecies traditionally known from RussianPrimorye, Korea, China and Japan, some-times collected in Amur and Khabarovskregions, recently in the Russian Altai byCherepanov (1984). Our discovery ofthe species in Kazakhstan was quite un-expected; a single available specimendoes not differ from Ussuri specimens.The species is very polyphagous; the de-velopment in the wood of thin twigs ofmany different deciduous plants, but

usually in Salix, Morus, Acer, Aralia, Ul-mus, often in Quercus, Fraxinus, Carpinusand many others, sometimes in Tilia, Al-nus, Seringa, Lespedeza and others.

41. Pogonocherus fasciculatus fasciculatus(DeGeer, 1775) – several specimens col-lected. An ordinary Palaearctic taxon dis-tributed from Spain to Japan, as well asin Caucasus, Iran, Turkey. Pogonocherusf. hondoensis Ohbayashi, 1963 was de-scribed from Japan (Central Honshu).Larvae under the bark of twigs of manyconiferous trees (Pinus, Picea, Abies, Lar-ix), but also recorded for several decidu-ous trees (Castanea, Ficus), pupation inwood.

42. Aegomorphus clavipes (Schrank,1781) – many specimens collected. Anordinary Palaearctic species distributedfrom Spain to Japan including NorthAfrica, as well as in Caucasus, Iran,Turkey. Larvae under the bark of manydeciduous trees preferring Populus, Salixand Betula, but also in Prunus, Acer, Al-nus and many others, pupation in wood.

43. Aegomorphus obscurior (Pic, 1904) –two males collected on Betula bark byShapovalov. The species was recentlydescribed as Polish endemic with thename A. wojtylai Hilszczanski & By-strowski, 2005. Then the species wasrecognized as being widely distributedall along Palaearctic area up to RussianFar East including Ust-Kamenogorsk en-virons (Danilevsky & Shapovalov 2007).The study of the holotype of Acantho-deres clavipes var. obscurior Pic, 1904(described from “Amur”) in Pic’s collec-tion in Muséum Nationale d’HistoireNaturelle (Paris) by Danilevsky provedthe synonymy of the two names (Hilsz-czanski 2008). The species is known tobe connected with Quercus, but mostprobably rather polyphagous.

44. Acanthocinus griseus (Fabricius,1792) – several specimens collected onAbies bark. An ordinary Palaearcticspecies distributed from Spain to EastSiberia. Larvae under dead bark of differ-ent coniferous trees, usually in Pinus, butalso in Picea and Abies, pupation underor inside the bark, adults on food-plants,sometimes attracted by light.

Anordinary Palaearctic species distributedfrom Portugal to Far East Russia, Koreaand China; larvae under dead bark(sometimes in roots) of different conifer-ous trees, usually in Pinus, but also inPicea, Abies, Larix, pupation under thebark, adults on food-plants.

46. Saperda alberti Plavilstshikov,1916 – numerous specimens collected onPopulus bark by Hadulla, Shapovalovand Yokoi. An ordinary east-asianspecies very numerous in Russian FarEast, but known from West Siberia toJapan. First record for Kazakhstan. Lar-vae under recently dead bark of Populus,Salix and Chosenia, pupation in sap-wood, under or inside the bark, adults onfood-plants, sometimes attracted bylight.

47. Saperda perforata (Pallas, 1773) –numerous specimens collected; ordinaryPalaearctic species distributed fromSpain to Far East Russia and China in-cluding North Africa, as well as in Cauca-sus, Iran and Turkey. Larvae under dyingbark of several deciduous trees, usuallyin Populus and Salix, but sometimes inothers (Sorbus), pupation in sapwood,under or inside the bark, adults on food-plants, sometimes attracted by light.

48. Saperda scalaris hyeroglyphica (Pal-las, 1773) – numerous specimens col-lected. Saperda scalaris (Linnaeus,1758) is an ordinary Palaearctic speciesdistributed from Spain to Far East Russiaand China including North Africa. Saper-da s. hyeroglyphica is distributed fromthe east part of European Russia to theFar East and is characterized by stableblue-grey body pubescence. Larvae un-der recently dead bark of many decidu-ous trees, but sometimes reported fromLarix and Abies. Pupation in sapwood,under or inside the bark, adults on food-plants, sometimes attracted by light.

49. Oberea kostini Danilevsky, 1988 –many specimens on twigs of Lonicera.Relatively rare Siberian species knownfrom the east of European Russia to WestSiberia and East Kazakhstan. Up to nowLonicera is a single known food-plant. Nobionomy data are known, but all must beabout same as in O. pupillata (Gyllen-hal, 1817), larvae in the wood of livingtwigs or thin stems, adults on food-plants.

50. Phytoecia (Musaria) affinis altaicaSuvorov, 1913 – numerous specimenscollected on Daucus. The infraspecifictaxonomy of Ph. affinis (Harrer, 1784)is extremely complicated; most probablymany traditional species such as Ph. tuer-ki Ganglbauer, 1884, Ph. volgensisKraatz, 1884, Ph. boeberi Ganglbauer,1884 are not more than subspecific formsof Ph. affinis, more over the subspecificstatus of Ph. a. altaica is not evident. Anyway Ph. affinis is an ordinary species dis-tributed from Spain to West Siberia, aswell as in Caucasus and probably inTurkey and Iran; many food-plants areknown but specially Chaerophyllum au-reum. In Siberia often in Libanotis inter-media, larvae in stems, pupation in roots,adults on food-plants.

51. Phytoecia (s. str.) nigricornis (Fabri-cius, 1781) – several specimens collect-ed. An ordinary Palaearctic species dis-tributed from Spain to East Siberia, aswell as in Caucasus, Iran and Turkey.Many food-plants are known: Tanace-tum, Solidago, Artemisia, Galatella, Achil-leae, Chrysanthemum and others. Larvaein stems, pupation in roots, adults onfood-plants.

52. Phytoecia (s. str.) cylindrica (Linnaeus,1758) – several specimens collected. Anordinary Palaearctic species distributedfrom Portugal to Russian Far East, as wellas in Caucasus, Iran and Turkey. Manyfood-plants are known: Daucaus, Chaero-phyllum, Bupleurum, Aegopodium, Hera-cleum, Phlomis and others. Larvae in stems,pupation in roots, adults on food-plants.

53. Phytoecia (s. str.) icterica (Schaller,1783) – two specimens collected by Sha-povalov and Yokoi. An ordinary west-palaearctic species distributed from Por-tugal to West Siberia, as well as in NorthCaucasus, all records for Transcaucasiaand Turkey concern another species.Many food-plants are known: Pastinacia,Daucaus, Heracleum, Pimpinella and oth-ers. Larvae in stems, pupation in roots,adults on food-plants.

54. Agapanthia alternans (Fischer-Waldheim, 1842) – several specimenscollected on Umbeliferae. The species isdistributed from East Siberia to CentralKazakhstan, specimens from Karagandaregion, Tarbagatai Mts. and Dzhun-garsky Alatau, as well as from Tuva Re-public are represented in the collectionof Danilevsky. The species is known to

be connected with Prangos and Ferula,adults on food-plants.

55. Agapanthia dahli dahli (Richter,1821) – several specimens collected ondifferent plants, but mostly on Malva. Anordinary Palaearctic species distributedfrom Spain to East Siberia, all records forTranscaucasia connected with A. walteriReitter, 1898, which might be only asubspecies of A. dahli. Many populationsof the species from Altai, Zaisan envi-rons, South Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan andTadzhikistan need to be described as newsubspecies. Many food-plants are known,usually it develops in Carduus and Cirsi-um, but also in Pastinacia, Heracleum,Pyrethrum, Daucus and many others, inNE Kazakhstan usually in Malva. In ourlocality the species was quite sympatricwith A. alternans, but used differentfood-plants, adults on food-plants.

54. Agapanthia villosoviridescens (De-Geer, 1775) – several specimens collect-ed on different plants. An ordinaryPalaearctic species distributed fromSpain to East Siberia, all records for Cau-casus are connected with anotherspecies, absent in Central Asia. In Siberiathe species is rather rare and sometimescan be observed in one locality with A.daurica Ganglbauer, 1884. A lot offood-plants are known: Carduus, Cirsi-um, Heracleum, Artemisia, Urtica, Senecioand many others. Cherepanov’s (1984)bionomical data are not adequate, as hemixed the species with A. daurica, adultson food-plants.

57. Agapanthia violacea (Fabricius,1775) – several specimens collected ondifferent plants. An ordinary Palaearcticspecies distributed from Spain to WestSiberia. The old distributional publisheddata are not acceptable, as traditionallythe species was mixed with A. intermediaGanglbauer, 1884 (which seems to bemore or less monophagous on Knautia).For example A. violacea is absent inMoscow and Kaluga regions, while A. in-termedia is represented here. On the otherhand the steppe area of South Russia(Volgograd region) is occupied by A. vio-lacea, and in Samara environs bothspecies occur sympatrically, but A. viola-cea is much more abundant. Many food-plants are known: Medicago, Phlomis,Echium, Salvia, Valeriana, Carduus andmany others. In several localities of NorthKazakhstan and Orenburg region of Rus-sia numerous specimens of A. violacea

were found by Danilevsky and Shapo-valov on stems of Pulsatilla, and no otherplants were visited in corresponding local-ities by A. violacea, adults on food-plants.

58. Agapanthia maculicornis (Gyllen-hal, 1817) – one male and three femaleson stems of Scorzonera collected by Dani-levsky and Shapovalov. Rather rarespecies distributed from Balkans to WestSiberia, as well as in North Caucasus. Allnames of food-plants published up tonow look rather doubtful. The specieswas often observed by Danilevsky onTragopogon in South Russia, so Scorzon-era and Tragopogon are notified here astrue food-plants of A. maculicornis, adultson food-plants.

59. Agapanthiola leucaspis (Steven,1817) – many specimens collected ondifferent plants. An ordinary Palaearcticspecies distributed from Balkans to EastSiberia. Many food-plants known: Meli-lothus, Erigeron, Campanula. Salvia,Ptarmica, Vernica, Potentilla, Cephalariaand others. Larvae in stem, pupation in-side stem near its base, adults on food-plants.

Species collected in Sibinka rivervalley

1. Brachyta interrogationis – several speci-mens collected on Ranunculus; see theannotation above.

2. Dinoptera collaris – several specimenscollected on flowers; see the annotationabove.

3. Lepturalia nigripes rufipennis – severalspecimens collected on flowers; see theannotation above.

4. Anoplistes halodendri halodendri (Pal-las, 1776) – one specimen collected onstem of Caragana by Shapovalov. Manyspecimens were collected here under thesame conditions by Danilevsky andHadulla in 2002. The current popula-tion can be accepted as typical. A. halo-dendri is an ordinary east-palaearcticspecies, known from the Balkan to Russ-ian Far East, China, Korea and Japan. InEurope only one subspecies – A. h. ephip-pium (Steven & Dalman, 1817), which isdistributed eastwards to about Urals, aswell as in North Caucasus.

5. Amarysius altajensis altajensis – sever-al specimens collected on twigs of Padus.

Many hundreds of specimens were col-lected here by Danilevsky and Hadullain 2002; see the annotation above.

6. Rhaphuma gracilipes – several speci-mens collected on flowers; see above.

7. Xylotrechus rusticus – several specimenscollected; see above.

8. Xylotrechus adspersus – more than 20specimens collected on the twigs of Salixby Shapovalov; see above.

9. Cyrtoclytus capra – several specimenscollected on flowers; see the annotationabove.

12. Politodorcadion eurygyne eurygyne(Suvorov, 1911) – numerous but ratherold specimens collected on soil amonggrass in steppe locality. More than hun-dred of specimens were collected here byDanilevsky in 2002. The species is anendemic of East Kazakhstan distributedsouthwards to Tarbagatai mountains anddistribution reaches to the border re-gions of Russia and China. Several popu-lations from Kalba Range with pubescentmales were described as D. e. lailanumDanilevsky, 2007.

13. Aegomorphus clavipes – several speci-mens collected on the bark of Padus; seeabove.

14. Tetrops praeusta (Linnaeus, 1758) –three specimens on Rosa and Loniceracollected by Shapovalov. An ordinaryPalaearctic species distributed from Por-tugal to East Siberia, as well as in Cauca-sus and Near East. The distributionaldata from Europe must be revised as itwas traditionally mixed with the yellowform of Tetrops gilvipes (Faldermann,1837). Larvae in living thin twigs ofmany deciduous trees and shrubs usuallyin Rosaceae (Malus, Crataegus, Pirus,Prunus, Padus and others), but also in Ul-mus, Quercus, Tilia, Populus and others.Young larvae under the bark, then inwood, pupation in wood, adults on twigsand leaves of food-plants.

15. Saperda carcharias (Linnaeus, 1758)– several specimens collected on Salix.

An ordinary Palaearctic species distrib-uted from Spain to Far East Russia andChina. Larvae in living wood of trunksand roots of Populus and Salix, pupationin wood.

16. Oberea kostini – numerous specimenson Lonicera twigs; see above.

17. Oberea erythrocephala (Schrank,1776) – several specimens collected onEuphorbia. An ordinary west-palaearcticspecies distributed from Portugal to WestSiberia including North Africa, as well asin Caucasus and Near East. Developmentin stems of different species of Euphor-bia, pupations inside the plant.

18. Phytoecia (s. str.) nigricornis – severalspecimens collected; see above.

19. Phytoecia (Opsilia) coerulescens (Sco-poli, 1763) – several specimens collect-ed. An ordinary west-palaearctic speciesdistributed from Portugal to West Siberiaincluding North Africa, as well as in Cau-casus, Near East and Central Asia,though the Central-Asian populationscan represent another species describedfrom Kirgizia as Phytoecia tienschanicaFuchs, 1965. Larvae in stems of manyplants like Echium, Cerinthe, Lithosper-mum, Rochelia, Cinoglossum, Lappula,Salvia and others. Pupation inside stem,adults on food-plants.

Two interesting species, which were notcollected by our expedition, were collect-ed in the area before and are representedin the collection of Danilevsky:

Acmaeops marginatus (Fabricius, 1781)– a male and a female collected by Dani-levsky using sweeping over grass in Si-binka river valley in 2002. The species iswidely distributed from Spain to RussianFar East and China, but rather rareeverywhere. Larvae under the dead barkof Pinus and Picea, pupation in soil,adults on flowers.

Cortodera ciliata ciliata Danilevsky, 2001– three males and a female accidentallycollected by Y. Mikhailov (Ekaterinburg)using sweeping over grass in Sibinka riv-er valley 25.V.2000. Cortodera c. milaen-deri Danilevsky, 2001 was describedfrom near Ufa (SW Urals). Up to now noother specimens are known, no food-plants known.

Discussion

The studied area includes several ratherdifferent nature zones. Typical taiga for-est (Fig. 5) is situated about 20 km alongthe road northwards Putintzevo villagewith many deciduous (mostly Betula,Populus, Salix and Padus) and coniferous(Abies, Pices, Larix, Pinus) trees. A Popu-lus forest which consist of rather oldtrees, extends along Khamir river (Figs1–3). Large Betula groves (Fig. 4) werenumerous around our camp. Mountainmeadows (locality of many Phytoecia andAgapanthia) with very rich grass vegeta-tion (Fig. 6) are on the hills near Putin-tzevo across the river. The border of sur-rounding forests (Fig. 6) were full offlowering Rosa, Spiraea, Viburnum andothers, a typical locality of Amarysiusspecies and Oberea kostini.

From the other side Sibinka river valley(Fig. 7) is relatively dry and steppe vege-tation occurs (Fig. 8), which partly looklike semi-desert areas. This is a typical lo-

cality of an abundant population ofPolitodorcadion eurygyne. The tape-forestalong Sibinka river (Fig. 7), which most-ly consists of Populus and Salix, containsrather numerous population of Xylotre-chus ibex. Stony mountain areas aroundthe valley (Fig. 8) were not rich with Ce-rambycidae, but just here were collectedAcmaeops marginatus by Danilevsky andCortodera ciliata by Mikhailov.

North-East Kazakhstan is in general avery interesting area from zoogeographi-cal point of view being situated close tothe border between Europe and Asia.Here the eastern most localities of Euro-pean species are situated as well as west-ern most localities of East Asian species,causing a highly diverse fauna in NorthEast Kazakhstan. Faunistically remark-able is our discover of some species fromthe Far East, like Amarysius sanguinipen-nis, Ropaloscelis uinfasciatus and Saperdaalberti. We regard the regional fauna asvery far from being well investigated, sonew expeditions to the region are verydesirable.
