Why a CEN Standard

To show to EU Commission, Member States, WHO… that we are professional :

By updating our process to be more efficient, in a safer way, and protecting the environment.

By organizing a certification program.

By proposing training programs.

By minimizing, when possible, the use of biocides, without impacting the efficiency of the treatment.

BSI: EN 16636 Pest management services Requirements and competences

• EN 16636:2015 is the first European standard on pest management services.

• The Confederation of European Pest Management Associations (CEPA) was closely involved in developing its content.

• It specifies the requirements, recommendations and basic competences in relation to the services provided by pest management services companies.

• This standard forms the basis of a CEPA certification scheme for certified professional pest management.

What does the standard cover?

• EN 16636 contains clear requirements and guidance for service providers on how to ensure a high-quality, professional pest management service which minimizes risk to human health and any potential negative impacts on the environment.

• It includes the competences required for different roles (administrative, sales, professional user, technical responsible person) that contribute to the delivery of professional pest management services.

The standard covers:

• The professional approach to pest management

• Process flow of professional service

• The development of standards, combined with a certification process, can also be used to ensure proper and sustainable use of biocidal products.

• The recently adopted European Standard (EN 16636) provides a good example of what can be achieved.

• Compliance with EN 16636 will enable pest management providers to demonstrate that they have the necessary competences and know-how to deliver pest management services, that they have a management system to ensure a consistent level of quality and that they systematically minimise risks for clients and the public, as well as the risk of potential negative impacts on the environment and animal welfare.

• Such initiatives directly contribute to the sustainable use of biocidal products.

EU Commission published its Report on the Sustainable use of Biocides
