Rising Starsof Tomorrow

At the beginning of the year, I was worried that I would have trouble fitting in because I am a minority and a first generation student. I now know that I do

belong and I just needed to learn as I went along. The two main things I learned throughout my freshmen year that will help me succeed my sophomore year are study

habits and approaching teachers. I know what type of study habits help me get the score I want, and I am no longer intimidated to approach my teachers and TAs because I did it so

often in the year. However, the most important thing that I learned is not to be afraid to ask for help when it is needed. I am excited to become a sophomore and continue taking classes for my Human

Development and Family Studies major. On Wisconsin!

As my freshmen year has come to an end, I reflect back to some of the greatest experiences that will forever remain close to me. The first week of

moving to Madison and transitioning into the college atmosphere would not have been possible without the friends I met, the Multicultural Learning Community floor

I lived on and my CeO family. From a collective group, they continuously encouraged me to “test the waters”. Some of my best experiences were going to events for free food

during the first week of school, enjoying Freakfest for the first time with friends, attending career fairs and attempting to look “professional,” tasting almost all the Asian restaurants on

campus to see which Pho was better, and more! These experiences has helped me grown to becoming a better individual. They have also helped prepare me for next year to dive into finding internships, taking

leadership roles, mentor others, connecting with other organizations, and explore!

College is scary. It really puts being an adult into action. The first year of college is a time to find yourself, join some clubs, explore campus, and meet

new people. That is exactly what I did. It was difficult at first, but the more I tried new things and talked to new people, the better my experience on campus was. CeO

helped with that a lot. Whether it was the required Org Fair, learning about ways to better my academics on campus, or just being there when support was needed. In all, college is a

learning experience but I’ve made great memories with some even greater people down the road. This year has taught me to just be myself and do the things I want to do because I don’t want to regret

anything when I graduate.

Panhia Moua has been accepted into the University of Wisconsin - Madison School of Nursing.

Kelsey Harker will be a returning INROADS intern with American Family Children’s Hospital in their Child Advocacy Department.

Tiffany Sneed was selected as a UW Global Gateway Program Scholar and will be traveling to Shanghai, China for four weeks.

Plia Xiong will be a Hmong literacy teacher at the Hmong Language & Cultural Enrichment Program (HLCEP) this summer helping students build confidence in reading, writing, and speaking Hmong.

Brian Brito has been accepted to the National Center for Atmospheric Research Undergraduate Leadership Workshop in Boulder, Colorado.

It’s been a pleasure to work on the CeO Newsletters for the past five weeks. After the first newsletter came out and it was very well recieved, it made me want to continue making them for the remainder of the semester. For those who don’t know me, I’m a graduating senior with a major in Life Sciences Communication and a certificate in Digital Studies. I enjoy making newsletters and any other type of digital media. I hope that the current CeO students

continue to strive for greatness and continue the program’s legacy.
