Letter from the Managing DirectorSince the first edition of the New Century Resources newsletter earlier this year, so much has happened in our communities, most notably the impact of the COVID-19 virus on all our lives.

Operations at the Century Mine have not been immune from these impacts, but our teams have worked hard to develop and implement processes and protocols to ensure our operations could continue and to minimise any risk of seeing Coronavirus brought into the Gulf communities.

Unfortunately, this has meant our team members haven’t been able to visit the communities nearby our operations at Lawn Hill, and our team at Karumba was isolated from community for a number of months.

Despite these challenges, we have been able to maintain our operations and deliver on our commitments to the Gulf Communities through ongoing compensation arrangements, delivery of training and development initiatives in Doomadgee, Normanton and on Mornington Island. We also finalised the first round of our Community Sponsorship initiative which was launched in this newsletter earlier in the year.

This edition of our Community Newsletter includes information about activities that have been happening at Century and in particular, our community-based activities. We also include details on how to contact our team members in your community or via email and telephone.

We hope you enjoy this second edition of our community newsletter and that it includes valuable information about our activities. If you have any suggestions for the next edition, please let us know.

Best regards,Patrick Walta | Managing Director

Community Offices and Community Liaison Officer

New Century Resources has established offices in the Gulf

Communities, and we have appointed a Community Liaison Officer,

based in the Gulf, who is responsible for engaging with community

members who are interested in activities at Century.

Michelle Erbacher is Century’s Community Liaison Officer and

she attends each of the Gulf Communities regularly with a view

to engaging with community members and answering questions

about Century’s activities and how to engage in employment and

training opportunities.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions on travel, visits to community

have been restricted however, with the lifting of those restrictions,

communities can expect to see our Community Offices open for

business.

meeting of the Committee was again conducted via teleconference due to

the travel restrictions associated with COVID-19.
