    1. Overview

1.1 Connection of Different SystemsAs a plant is expanded it becomes necessary to connect an existing system with the

CENTUM CS system in order to control and monitor the existing stations from the CS

system. The scheme of connecting an existing XL system to the CENTUM CS system

    is shown in Figure 1.1.

The connection of CS and XL systems requires a dual-redundant V net/HF bus converter

(ABC11D-H). The connection of CENTUM CS and µXL systems requires a single V

    net/RL bus converter (ABC11S-L) and a dual-redundant V net/RL bus converter

(ABC11D-L). Used in connecting the existing XL system with existing devices are

CFFS with those on the F bus, UCIF with those on the L bus, ULFU with those on the

HL bus, and MOPS with those on the RL bus.

    1. Overview

1.2 Use of the Engineering FunctionThe ICS of the CENTUM CS system requires tag data on the stations of the connected

existing system in order to control and monitor the connected stations. The following

engineering function and tools are used to provide the ICS with the tag data:

    (1) CS XL-builder function

    (2) CS tag-list generation tool

    (3) EOPS tag-list conversion tool

    (4) Tag-list modification tool

The CS XL-builder function is part of the XL engineering function provided with the CS

system. The builder function at the engineering station (ENGS) has been transported to

the HP9000/700 Series computer with minor modifications. The use of this function is

    described in this manual.

The three tools are contained in the tag-list generation utility package for the CS system.

The package is required to use the XL builder function because the EOPS tag-list

conversion tool in the package is used internally by the function. For the description of the package, refer to the operation manual IM33G4P10-11E, Tag-list Generation Utility

    Package.

    1.2.1 CS XL-Builder Function

The CS XL-builder function is contained in the XL engineering function this manual

describes. The builder function permits to create, compile, and load XL-station source

files at the ICS of the CS system. It calls the tag-list conversion tool when a tag list is

loaded on the ICS, automatically converting the tag list for the EOPS to that for the ICS.

2.3 Management of XL Jobs in the CS SystemSystem databases are managed in “job” units in the XL system while they are managed

in “project” units in the CS system. XL jobs are managed under CS projects when the

XL system is built in the CS system. A number of XL jobs can be managed under one

    CS project.

An XL job for the XL system in which physical devices are connected should be locatedunder a CS operational project; and an XL job in which physical devices are not

connected should be located under a CS non-operational project.

The relationship of XL jobs and CS projects is shown in Figure 2.1. When more than

one XL job is managed under a CS project, the CS system constant is used for the XL

    system.

    3. Function Operating Procedure

    3.1 XL-builder Operation

The operation of the XL builder and related procedures are described.

    3.1.1 Creating a Project

A CS project in which the database of an XL job must be created to manage the job

    under the project.

The project maintenance utility of the system utility is used to create a CS project.

Refer to the operation manual IM33G4H10-11E, Builder Common Operation, for the

    procedure.

3.1.2 Defining the CS System Configuration

With the CS procedure created, register the XL station and bus converter using the CS

    system configuration definition builder.

The XL station requires a domain number different from the CS station because the XLstation is connected with the V-net by way of the bus converter. Refer to operation

manuals IM33G4C10-11E, System Generation Function, for the definition of the CS

system configuration, and IM33G4L10-11E, ICS Builder, for the operation of the CS

    system configuration definition builder.

With the system configuration defined and registered, change to the bus converter

builder panel, define the bus converter, and load the definition to the converter. For the

procedure, refer to the operation manual IM33G5C20-11E, Bus Converter Function &

    Builder.

Then return to the system configuration definition builder, select the “load” menu, and

create a source file and an object file. This step cannot be performed unless the busconverter has properly been defined and loaded.

Appendix 2 Differences in Engineering FunctionsThe CS XL-engineering function has some functions that are not identical to those of the

ENGS XL-builder because of different environments and in order to coordinate with

other CS engineering functions. The differences are summarized below:

    General Functions

The system supports Japanese and English characters. It does not

    operate under other language environments.

No update command is available. To transfer an ENGS source file to

the CS system, the file must first be updated at the ENGS before the

    transfer.

Mouse pointer is displayed during character string input. Mouse can be

moved during character string input, but operations are not possible.

Perform mouse operation after confirming input of character string.

    Language

System constants for a number of XL jobs managed under one CS

project must agree with the system constants of the CS project.Plural number of XL system constants

The left button is used for selection. The right button is used for

cancellation in some cases. The middle button is not used.Mouse operation

Input of Japanese characters requires the use of NLIO (Native

Language I/O). xwnmo can not be used.Japanese language input

    Automatic update of source files

    Character input

Characters cannot be enlarged.Character magnification in using the

    feedback control builder

File dates can be displayed for stations where engineering files arestored and managed. File dates cannot be displayed at other

    engineering workstations.

    Display of dates for files

No menu is available to call the generation function from the sequence

table. The system generation function must be called using the FCS

    builder menu already displayed.

    Calling the system generation function

    from the sequence table builder

There is no command for version upgrading. If you are using an earlier

version of the ENGS source file, upgrade it to the latest version at the

ENGS and then move it to the CS’s CENTUM-XL builder.

    Automatic update of source files

Generation screen (window) is displayed even after invoking another

    screen.

Generation results can be confirmed only after closing this Generation

    screen.

    Confirmation of generation result

Cursor keys cannot be used. The backspace key is used to correct any

keyed-in character. Functions such as deletion of a character using

CTRL+x, ON/OFF of the character insert mode using CTRL+o, and

deletion of a line using CTRL+y are not available.

    Character input

Display blinking No blinking. Instead, handle is displayed.

    Item CS Engineering Function

Mouse operation Mouse operation performs as specified by X-Windows.

Function keys Functions keys cannot be used.

    XL Self-document

Remote printer Remote printers connected to other EWS can be used for output (a Self-

document cannot be output to a printer connected to the ICS or PICS).

    Printout of static image

If any part of a primitive lies on the outer frame, the primitive cannot be

printed. In some cases a printer can not identify the deleted image. For

this reason, the original image is printed as well.

    Operation execution machine

Operators can operate engineering functions on the EWS which stores

and controls engineering files (on a remote EWS, these functions

    cannot be performed).

    Operator utility: printer specification

The data held by the engineering function are printed at all times and

EOPS data are not printed. Therefore printer specification is not

    applicable.

    Cancel output request command

This command cancels any new output request and does not cancel the

output of data already spooled — the CANCEL command must be used

    to cancel their output.

Appendix 3 Transfer of Files from ENGSSource files in an ENGS can be transferred for direct use as source files for an XL

builder. The following procedure explains how to transfer those files.

    (1) Creating a Project at EWS

Using a project maintenance utility at an EWS, create a project to store the source

    files of the XL builder.

    (2) Defining System Configuration

Using the System Configuration Definition builder at the EWS, define the configura-

tion of a system including the XL system. After the entry for definition, execute the

    [Save & Check] command.

    (3) Calling Up the XL Builder

Call up the menu panel of the XL builder (shown below in figure 3.1 of the appen-

    dix) from the EWS display.

Type 99 in the job number field and close the menu. This operation is intended to

arrange the default-value files and jobs that are necessary to execute the builder, as

subordinates of the project in question; and thereby eliminate work such as creating

    new jobs.

    (4) Shutting Down Engineering Function

Close all of the on-screen builder panels, and then shut down the engineering

    function.

    (5) Saving Files Stored in ENGS

Save files stored in ENGS on a streamer. In that case, save files located in alldirectories under users1 using a relative path. Execute the following command:

The triangle (∆) in the following command statement denotes a space.

    # cd∆/# find∆usersl∆-print∆|cpio∆-ocBv∆-O/dev/tape

    NOTE

Do not begin the file name with a slash (/). Always save the files under a relativepathname. Do not save the files using an engineering tool, as this saves the files under

    their absolute pathname.

    (6) Setting Environment for Executing Remote Shell

Set up an environment where a remote shell can be executed from the “builder”

account of an EWS to the “root” account of an ICS. Log in to the ICS as a

superuser and create a .rhosts file in the “/” directory. Add an EWS host name and

an account to the file using the following format:

    (7) Reading Files Stored on Tape

Using a remote-shell function, read files from the streamer connected to the ICS.

Log on to the EWS with the account "builder." Then, execute the following com-

mand to create a directory named "etc" under the "/real."

    $ cd∆real/etc

such a directory contains a file or files that must be copied for some particular reason,

create a new directory manually and transfer the file or files to the new directory.

    (8) Coordinating Permissions

Using the following procedure, set up the correct owner, group and permissions for

    files.

Log on as the superuser to execute the following command.

    # cd∆/real# chgrp∆-R∆builder∆etc

    Item Description

The engineering function cannot be used in a multi-user, multi-

    host environment.

This function, when used with a builder window, displays all the

visible elements again. This is also true in the case of an

automatic redisplay applied when elements hidden by another

window show up or in the case of a redisplay applied when a

    window is moved.

Some operations, such as clicking the “Maximize” button, may

cause “garbage” to appear on the panel. Garbage for menu

selection or data entry may also appear when pictures are

redrawn. An invalid indication of selection may occur with the

    red borders of a menu.

    Invalid display

In a builder where the entry field is provided at the lower part of

the screen, cursor control keys cannot be used. As the cursor is

displayed at the end of a character string, move the cursor

    forward with the backspace key.

    Character input control

The size of Japanese contained in the Detailed Specification

Description Column does not fit the column width. Even if the

window size is changed, the size of characters contained in the

loop pattern does not match the pattern size.

    DDC builder, sequence builder

For the Japanese-language input mode, an NLIO entry window

opens below the builder window. To confirm the entry, press

the down arrow key ( ↓ ) instead of the return key.

    Restrictions (continued)

    Item Description

There is a restriction for a case where more than one window of

the Sequence Table builder is open. When using the previous or

next page operation, do not call a sequence table that is already

displayed in another window. Otherwise, a lock file will remain

in the builder window, resulting in a failure to call that sequence

    table thereafter.

The file control status is updated just after the list screen is

called up. If you write in a sheet newly called up, the status of

the list screen which has already been called up is not updated.

    Sequence table builder

There is a restriction for a case where more than one window of

the Computational. Expression builder is open. When using the

previous or next page operation, do not call a computational

expression that is already displayed in another window.

Otherwise, a lock file will remain in the builder window,

resulting in a failure to call that computational expression

thereafter. The file control status is updated just after the list screen is

called up. If you write in a sheet newly called up, the status of

the list screen which has already been called up is not updated.

    Computational expression builder

When using software with versions earlier than R2.07, delete

“lock file” according to the procedure below. When using R2.07

or greater software, the lock file is deleted at the startup of the

    engineering function.

    •How to delete lock file

Delete lock file with the “rm” command, and restart the

engineering function. The lock file is in /real/etc/users1/ctmsrc////i.XXXXX.XX. The suffix begins with i. The file

name differs depending on the type of builder.

    Lock file

One file is shared by three builders. Therefore, the file cannot

be editted when calling up the three builders of trend pen

assignment, overview panel assignment, and control group

    assignment at the same time.

    Operator utility

During loading, do not use any of the following operations:

Generation, saving and on/off scanning relating to the station

being loaded, or concurrent loading to the station currently being

    loaded.

    Loading

Since an EWS lacks proper fonts, the size of a character on an

EOPS screen differs from that on a builder panel.Graphic builder

If the EWS net mask settings of /etc/netlinkrc are incorrect, theXL-builder panels may become locked. Correct the settings. Ifthe panels become locked, you must reboot the EWS.

    EWS network setup

If you print the report form for a large-scale job continuously, theself-documentation function will output data alternating betweenthis job and another on a form-by-form basis. When printingsuch a job, make sure the first cycle of printing is complete beforeyou proceed to the next cycle.

    Restrictions (continued)

    Item Description

XL graphic builder -YEWCOM modification function

Do not compile graphics accompanied by a YEWCOM modifierusing the XL builder’s graphic builder. To edit panels mixedwith YEWCOM data use an ENGS, rather than the XL builder.

XL graphic builder -change in attributes of pattern blocks

If you attempt to change the attributes of pattern blocks, thebuilder panels disappear and the following messages appear.system error function name: bdprpbk4: code=3system error function name: gr_mnfrm: code=2Restart the graphic builder to continue editing. If this is notpractical because the error occurs too often, remove the patternblocks once and then recreate them; or save the panel once andthen change the attributes of pattern blocks in the builder. Shouldthe panel accidentally disappear, restart the graphic builder onceagain to continue editing. If an ENGS is available, use it tochange the attributes.

Detection of differences in relationalformulas (%RL) of EFMS

In an EFMS, a difference may be detected in the EFMS’relational formulas (%RL) even if no change has been made tothem. This does not affect the loading of formulas online, however.

XL self-documentation-handling of single-byte yen sign

If a single-byte yen sign is used in the DDC, graphics or IBD, thisfunction converts the sign to a character of the 0x5c ASCII code(i.e., a backslash) before printing it. If you want the yen sign tobe printed, use a double-byte yen sign.

    XL self-documentation-startup of self-documentation menu

If there is no definition of a local or remote printer in an EWS,the self-documentation menu cannot be started and the EWScannot show any error messages. When using the self-documentation function in the XL builder, be sure to define theprinter set with the sam command or similar.

Project name and name of project top directory

When using the XL builder, make sure the project name and thename of the project’s top directory are the same. If not, matchthem using the Project Maintenance Utility.

On-Off scan panel The on-off scan panel appears if:• XL-based FCSs, such as the EFCSs and CFCDs defined in the

XL builder, are not yet defined on the CS-based systemconfiguration panel, or • a wrong station name or names are defined for the FCSs by

mistake.Furthermore, the XL builder behaves as if you could switchbetween the yes and no options for scanning DDC instruments.Of course, you cannot really make this switch. Instead, definethe correct XL-based FCSs and execute the Save & Check andLoad commands. The on-off scan panel should then behavecorrectly.Match the CS-based configuration definitions with the XL-basedones. Although this causes the phenomenon discussed above, noactual harm is done in terms of control actions.

    Appendixes

    Appendix 4.1 Precautions on Operation

This section describes precautions on the “operations” described in Appendeix 4

    “Restrictions on Use.”

If you perform too many operations in one builder, the builder may end abnormally dueto memory shortage. The operational amount depends on memory capacity installed in a

machine. When using a machine with more than 80 Mbytes of memory, close the

builder window in the following cases 1 to 6. With less than 80 Mbytes of memory,

minimize operations of each builder, and carry out the following builder operations for

efficient use of memory. If it takes more time than usual when updating display, the

machine may be short of memory. In this case, close the window once then call it up

    again.

Memory shortage is caused by entering many character strings, displaying many

characters and turning many pages. On a screen where many data can be defined,

reduce the number of turning pages as much as possible. If you continue builder

operations without closing windows which are called up, memory used increases.

However, when redisplaying a window with a window redisplay command, memory

    used does not increase.

For efficient use of memory, follow the instructions bellow:

    1. Graphic builder

After correcting one page, close the window (and return to the file list screen).

    2. Common pattern definition builder

After correcting 96 patterns, close the window.

Create a file named fcs_file.c in the /real/etc/users1/centum/

nursery//00. When creating the file, copy the original file and add required

information to that file. The original file is $YDCS_XL_PATH/usr/lib/ctm/data/

fcs_file.fc (If the file already exists, it is not necessary to make a copy.)

Using an editor, add the following information to that file.

    000103EFCS/EFCDstcL/usr/lib/ctm/data/efcsstc.sv

    013203EFCS-H2/D-H2stcL/usr/lib/ctm/data/efcs2stc.sv

Information contained in the file is classified according to the models of the FCS. Also,

classify added information according to the models of the FCS. For more information,

refer to Figure 5.1 “Example of Added Information.”

    (2) Define the EWS in the definition of BCV-HF supervisory station

To transfer files to EOPS using the XL builder, it is necessary to define the supervisory

    station.

    (3) Define the EOPS in the definition of BCV-HF secondary station

Always define the EOPS in the BCV-HF secondary station.

    (4) Identify the STN name of EOPS described in the system configuration definition of the XL builder withthat in the system configuration definition of the CS

If you specify “load to EOPS” on the XL builder, the STN network information will

refer to the STN name in the system configuration definition of the CS. If the STN name

is incorrect, an error will result.

    (5) When using previous model of EWS R2.05.00

When using previous model of EWS R2.05.00, identify the station number of the BCVon V-net with that on the HF.

    Appendix 7 Precautions In Correcting a Tag-List

This section describes the loading procedure in correcting a tag-list.

When a tag-list is corrected with the tag-list correction builder;(1) Load with the CS XL builder

    (2) Load with the tag-list correction builder

Usually procedure (2) is not necessary.

However, it may be necessary depending on the job type to be performed on the CS XL

builder. In particular, if a tag is added or modified with the CS XL builder, the

    following problem may arise.

    1. Suppose that loading is executed with the CS XL builder. If contents loaded isinconsistent with the contents described with the tag-list correction builder, equalization

of the ICS and BCV results in error.

    Inconsistency arises when:

    (1) an existing tag name is replaced with another tag name with the CS XL builder;

    or

    (2) an existing tag name is deleted with the CS XL builder,

and if correction information associated with the existing tag name is defined on the tag-

    list correction builder.

If inconsistency arises, after loading with the XL builder, always re-define the existing

tag name by running the tag-list correction builder, and then execute “Load.”

Appendix 8 Configuration of Printer into the XL-builderFunctions

The XL-builder functions can output data to a printer (referred to as a local printer)connected to an EWS installed with the XL-builder functions. The functions can also

output data to a printer (referred to as a remote printer) connected to EWSs not installed

    with the XL-builder functions.

The rest of this appendix shows a list of the XL-builder packages that enable printouts

and explains how to configure the local and remote printers.

    TIP

You cannot output data from an EWS installed with the XL-builder functions, to a

printer connected to a PICS, nor can you output data to a printer connected to an ICS.

    2. Configuring the Local Printer

No extra work is involved if you connect a local printer to an EWS with the English-

    version operating system.

    TIP

The following explains how to configure a remote printer under the Japanese-version

    operating system.

The names of files listing the printer models that can be selected for use with the XL-

builder functions are LIPS3 and lbpb406s. The following explains how to configure the

local printer. The configuration procedure varies depending on whether the EWS'

operating system is HP-UX9.xx or HP-UX10.20 or later version, and also on whether

the name of a file listing printer models is LIPS3 or lbpb406s.

When the EWS' Operating System Is HP-UX9.xx:

No extra work is involved if you select lbpb406s as the name of the printer modelfile. If you selected LIPS3 however, follow the procedure given below:

    (1) Log on with the account "builder" to open the hpterm directory.

    (2) Make sure you are currently at the home directory.

    Type:

    $ cd

and press the return key. This will move you to the home directory.

    (3) Type the following command to open a new file. (A triangle (∆) in keyed-in

statements of commands, etc. indicates a space hereinafter.)

    $ vi∆.lpr_option

After this, type the following to configure the file so that it contains a statement in

    the first line only.

    lp∆-o∆japanese.euc

    (4) Save the file and quit the vi command.

    (5) Terminate the engineering function once and then restart it.

The printer named LIPS3 should print correctly now.

When the EWS' Operating System Is HP-UX10.20 or later version:

    No extra work is involved.

    3. Configuring the Remote Printer

You need not follow the procedure given below to configure a remote printer or make a

    new file if:

    • a printer is already connected to the EWS installed with the XL builder, and

    • you will continue to use that printer.

Furthermore, you do not need to make files if configuring a remote printer using an

EWS with the English-version operating system. Using such commands as sam,

configure a remote printer using an EWS with the XL builder installed. Data for

printouts are output to the remote printer.
