July 2013 Volume 2 (6) Hello summer! Can you feel it in the air? Time for relaxation by the pool, trips to the beach, and outdoor BBQs with friends and family. Although summer vacations have people coming and going, they can still remain on track with automated training through CentreLearn. Administrators can easily create tasks in advance for their users, and of course, users have the flexibility to complete these tasks online, no matter where their vacation takes them. Administrators can even automate reports before heading out on their own summer get-away. With just a few clicks, reports can be generated and emailed to you daily, weekly, or monthly based on your chosen settings. So, automate some tasks and reports now, then sit back and relax with a good book (see some of our staff recommendations below). CENTRELEARN USER FEEDBACK EMS Standby at Athletic Events EMS personnel are frequently on standby at athletic events like high school football games or 10K road races. At these events, EMTs and paramedics work side-by-side with athletic trainers and other healthcare professionals. After completing the CentreLearn course, Sports Medicine for EMS, paramedic Jonathan Sell from Booker EMS wrote, "Great course! I work closely with our athletic department at our local high school.” Jonathan also wrote about the importance of establishing a relationship with the other professionals responsible for player safety. “I go out of my way to introduce myself to the opposing team's medical staff or coaches if they don't have a medical staff and all of the officials for the game before it starts. That goes a long way.” Read more from Jonathan . Athletic Trainer and EMT Renewing with CentreLearn CE Courses Athletic trainer and EMT Wes Richardson is renewing his EMT using CentreLearn continuing education courses. He writes, “I am always glad when I see athletic trainers referenced in some of the lessons, especially those that relate to topics that we are well trained in, such as exertional heat illnesses, ankle injuries, concussions, lightning safety, and spine-boarding in athletics. I believe that EMS personnel and athletic trainers can both benefit and learn from each other as we strive to be better healthcare providers.” He also shares numerous resources and websites that may be helpful to other EMTs and Paramedics. Read more from Wes . Have you taken a CentreLearn course that has proved to be especially beneficial to you? We’d enjoy hearing about it. Contact us or email greg@centrelearn to leave your feedback and perhaps we’ll share your thoughts on the CentreLearn blog or in a future Train Better Memo. SUMMER READING RECOMMENDATIONS Are you "old school" or "new school?" It’s interesting to think about how quickly times change with advances in technology, convenience, and the move toward “mobile” everything. A book used to require the turning of a tactile page and perhaps even employing an earmarked flap so you could resume reading at a later time. Today, a “book” may involve a search from an online database of titles and a download to your preferred mobile device. A simple touch of a finger advances the page and an auto-save feature helps resume where you left off. Although we emphasize online education and strive to provide our services for the multimedia user, we thought it would be fun for the CentreLearn staff to share some of their summer book recommendations whether “old school” paperback or “new school” mobile app.

A simple touch of a finger advances the page and an auto-save feature helps resume where you left off.
