About the Centre
• The UPEACE Centre for Executive and Professional Education was founded in September 2006
• Located in Costa Rica, within the United Nations-mandated University for Peace (UPEACE), the UPEACE Centre for Executive and Professional Education delivers dynamic courses to leaders from around the world.
• Since September 2006 the Centre has conduct 12 courses with 202 unique participants.
About the Centre
Our Mission: The Centre works with leaders from around the world to offer the knowledge, perspectives, and skills to prepare them to be more effective in their professional environments, with a new spirit of understanding, cooperation, and sensitivity to our global interconnectedness.

Centre´s Academic Approach• The approach to all courses is innovative, interactive, and participant-
centered, using case-studies and field trips when appropriate.
• The Centre aims to develop key leadership skills by incorporating the following crosscutting themes:
– Intercultural Communication– Negotiation and Conflict Resolution– Teambuilding
Seminars Currently Offered
• The Centre offers the following intensive seminars on a regular basis:– Nonprofit Leadership: Maximising Impact– Corporate Social Responsibility: Walking the Talk– Educating for the 21st Century– Social Entrepreneurship in Latin America
• Intensive seminars can be customized to your organizational or professional needs. Course lengths and locations can be changed to suit your availability, and additional components or themes can be incorporated into a course to cater to your requirements. Examples of customized courses:
– Educational Leadership for Peace and Sustainability (Customized for Univ. of San Diego)
– International Business Experience in Costa Rica (Customized for Arcadia University)
Workshops Currently Offered
• The Centre offers shorter sessions in the form of workshops, ranging from 2 to 16 hours on the following topics:
– Cross-cultural Communication– Leadership through Conflict Resolution– Creating and Leading High Performance Teams– Implementing Peace Education in your Curriculum
Why Upeace?
• Facilities & Location: The UPEACE campus in El Rodeo, Costa Rica – is situated on 300 hectares of protected land (with 260 hectares of rare primary forest) just 30 minutes drive from San José International Airport. Participants will have access to the nature reserve located on UPEACE campus and nature hikes can be incorporated into the schedule.
• Our Educational Approach: The pedagogical approach to all courses is engaging, interactive, and case-based, using technological resources where appropriate.
• Multicultural Networking: Throughout the course you will have the opportunity to meet and interact with UPEACE’s international community from more than 50 countries, including our mid-career graduate students and accomplished international faculty.
