What is the Founda�on?

The Central United Methodist Church Founda�on was established in the 1960s, incorporated in 1965, with revised and amended bylaws May 18, 2003, for exclusively benevolent, religious, charitable, educa�onal, eleemosynary (charity support), health, literary and scien�fic purposes. These purposes benefit Central United Methodist Church of Albuquerque, Inc., the New Mexico Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Church throughout the world. To achieve these purposes, the Founda�on relies on its Board of Trustees and members. They provide the business and financial exper�se to create a steady and growing stream of income to help finance the many programs and missions of Central and the denomina�on. Over the years the Founda�on has grown significantly in total assets to over $1.3M using a moderate investment policy, and in the variety of planned giving op�ons offered through the Church. The Board of Trustees and Founda�on members pledge to the members of Central United Methodist Church our best efforts to con�nue this necessary and meaningful service. The Founda�on offers an avenue for designa�ng whereassets will be u�lized, both now and in the future.

Why become a member of the Founda�on?If you are interested in the present, as well as future, financial strength and stability of Central United Methodist Church, please consider becoming a member of the Founda�on. The Founda�on depends on the interests and diversity of its membership to properly direct the investments and disbursement of the funds entrusted to the Founda�on. Investments are in accordance with wri�en Founda�on investment policies. As a member, you can influence these decisions from your input at mee�ngs and the elec�on of the Trustees to support the proper growth and use of the entrusted funds. Trustees are elected from the Founda�on membership by the CUMC Charge Conference from a list of candidates proposed by the Founda�on to the Nomina�ng Commi�ee of CUMC. Contact any of the listed Trustees for more informa�on on membership.

1. Undesignated Funds - for purposes not related to Church opera�ons.2. Estate Gi�s for Opera�ons.3. Permanent Endowment for Church opera�ons - A percentage of this fund is distributed for opera�ons. 4. Hand bell maintenance and purchase.5. Fenn Lecture Fund.6. Organ/Music at Worship Fund.7. Property Fund.8. Reed Assistance Fund (Chris�an voca�on scholarship).9. Scholarship Fund (Chris�an voca�on).10. Grannemann Fund (Engineering scholarship).11. Nye Family Church Bell Maintenance Fund.12. Thri� Shop Fund.13. Music Fund.14. Sco� Crutchfield Music & Fine Arts Fund.15. Columbarium Fund.16. Pension Funding Fund.17. Eupha Morris Scholarship Fund (Seminary).

How are Gi�s Made?

There are several ways to make charitable gi�s to the Founda�on, both now and at death. As our tax laws change, new possibili�es con�nue to be developed. As per UM Book of Discipline, all gi�s are verified and approved by the CUMC Trustees.Options for giving include:

Outright gi�sThese gi�s can include cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, or collec�bles.

Real EstateGi�s of real estate can qualify for an itemized deduc�on. As an alterna�ve, a gi� of real estate may be made to the Founda�on now, while you s�ll use it. A current income tax deduc�on may s�ll be available.

Re�rement fundsThe Founda�on can be named as a con�ngent beneficiary of re�rement plans or individual re�rement accounts to succeed other family members.

Gi� Annui�esYou may transfer property (cash, securi�es, etc.) to the Founda�on and s�ll retain the right to receive income. You con�nue to receive income from the asset and upon death the remainder will go to the Founda�on.

Life InsuranceThe Founda�on can be named as owner, beneficiary, or par�al beneficiary of a life insurance policy. The Founda�on can also be named as the con�ngent beneficiary to receive the proceeds if the family members do not survive the insured.
