BA (Hons) Fashion

BA (Hons) Culture, Criticism &CurationWith arts and humanities at its heart, our course equips you for work in galleries, museums, radio, film, theatre and new media. While our focus is on contemporary culture, our understanding is informed by the histories and theories that have gone before, so your engagement is not only collaborative and flexible but also critical.

Apply to one of five pathways – Fashion Design Womenswear, Fashion Design Menswear, Fashion Print, Fashion Knitwear and Fashion Design with Marketing – to develop your creative and critical, but always individual, voice.

BA (Hons) Fashion CommunicationBA Fashion Communication is aimed at stu-dents who are passionate about fashion but do not want to follow the design route. Our course consists of three connected pathways: Fashion Journalism focuses on writing for print and digital media, Fashion Communication & Promotion is for creative image-makers, and Fashion History & Theory explores the social and cultural context of fashion.

BA (Hons) Fine Art

BA (Hons) Graphic Communica-tion Design

With a choice of 2D, 3D, 4D and cross-dimensional (XD) pathways on BA Fine Art, alternative and experimental ways of working are the norm, especially in a college that stretches across fashion, design and performance. Your artistic practice will develop by questioning the world around you and en-gaging with social, political and technological contexts beyond the walls of the studio. We encourage practices that aren’t in the middle ground but that push at the boundaries.

Where once graphic design was viewed as a landscape of logo and type, today our discipline has expanded its horizons. From pencil and paper to complex digital systems, you’ll work as polymaths across materials and contexts. Taking this broad perspective, you’ll develop not only technical and conceptual skills but engage socially and culturally, understanding the power of design to shape human behaviour.

BA (Hons) Jewellery DesignJewellery Design is a conversation between body and object. With originality and innovation at the centre of the course, you’ll push at the boundaries of the discipline, exploring what contemporary jewellery can be. We nurture links with industry, encourage consideration of the social life of jewellery and the ethical responsibilities of manufacture so you engage with the contexts of your work while developing your own creative practice.

BA (Hons) Performance Design and PracticeCollaborating across the territories of theatre, film and installation, you’ll work in emerging contexts such as immersive performance, socially-engaged projects or cutting-edge experience economies where practices over-lap in unpredictable ways. In an expanding industry that is increasingly difficult to define, we trace and challenge tradition while embracing this complexity.
