Statewide Outcomes Central CERT Goals n Helped Minnesotans save over 93 billion BTUs of energy and avoid $1.6 million in energy costs since 2010 n Awarded over $790,000 in seed grants to more than 189 energy projects since 2006 n Impacted 87,700 people through grants, events, and programs since 2009 n Fostered robust networks in each region and across industry sectors n Build a sustainable future by increasing awareness and adoption of energy efficiency and clean energy resources n Bring utilities together to scale-up energy efficiency work to reduce electricity usage in each town and utility service area n Work toward net-zero energy buildings and integrate energy efficiency and renewable energy with new construction Central CERT: Building a Clean Energy Future The Clean Energy Resource Teams—or CERTs—are a statewide partnership with a shared mission to connect individuals and their communities to the resources they need to identify and implement community-based clean energy projects. Central CERT empowers communities and their members to adopt energy conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy technologies and practices for their homes, businesses, and local institutions.

n Conservation Improvement Program Research andDevelopment Fund, via Division of Energy Resources

n McKnight & Southwest Initiative Foundations

n University of Minnesota Extension

n We are currently investigating the viability ofheat recovery ventilation and solar air heat onfarms in general and its potential installation onturkey barns specifically.

n A second undertaking is working on converting10% of the state’s biomass boilers to solar augmentation from 2013 to 2015.

n We are also focused on implementingrenewable energy in public spaces, including a solar PV system and electricvehicle charging station in the Crosby area.
