Minnesota FoodShare DriveNow-March 31, East EntryMarch means MN FoodShare is underway! We're partnering with the Blaisdell Y again this year, and setting new "pounds goals" for food donations to support Groveland Food Shelf. We've set benchmarks for each Hennepin clergy member to jump in the Y's pool fully dressed: 2,000 lbs. for Pastor Nate, 2,500 lbs. for Pastor Frenchye, and 3,000 for Pastor Judy! Pick up a grocery bag and shopping list after worship. Bring your bag filled with groceries back to Hennepin Avenue UMC March 3-31. Be a wellspring of hope for families in need of healthy food--and help our clergy make a big splash to fight hunger!
Homeless Day on the HillMarch 13, 8am in the Parking LotWe will journey to the State Capitol as a faith community to influence the shaping of laws that affect persons experiencing homelessness. We will have a bus that departs Hennepin Church at 8am to get to Central Presbyterian Church by 9am (the bus will return at 4pm). After Advocacy training, at 10am, we will travel to the State Capitol to meet with legislators. Enjoy Sunday Brunch in the Social Hall. From 10am to 12noon, enjoy a delicious Sunday Bruch spread, prepared by Chef Warren Seta. The recommended cost is $7 per person, but don’t stay away if you cannot pay. Fellowship and food is available for everyone.
We love children. At Hennepin, there’s a place for every child on Sunday mornings! Our services are family-friendly, and Sunday school is just down the hall. Wee Ones (children ages newborn to 3) are welcome in Nursery Care, where loving volunteers will care for your child while you worship. The Nursery is located in room 101 of the Education Wing. Ask an usher or the receptionist if you would like help finding this room.
Sacred Journey welcomes people of all ages to worship with us. Sacred Journey is full of music and movement to keep you and your family engaged.
At Traditional Worship in the Sanctuary, our play-and-pray area provides a comfortable rug and baskets of quiet toys for kids to use. Following the opening prayers and blessings, children ages 3-13 are invited to participate in Time with Children at the front of the Sanctuary, and then follow their friends and teachers to join in our Hennepin Kids for LYFE Sunday School programming in the Education Wing. Your children are welcome to stay with you, too. You will find worship bags containing child-friendly activities, as well as baskets of children’s books, at all sanctuary entrances.
