they teach. The state requires proof of subject matter competency:
For elementary school teachers by passage of a state-approved exam: CSET (California Subject Examination for Teachers).
For future middle/high school teachers either state approved program of study or passage of a state-approved exam: CSET (California Subject Examination for Teachers).
