The Annual Center City Picnic this year is teaming up with the United Way Celebrity Bake-Off and will be Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 11:00am-1:30pm on Main Street. Two blocks, the 700 and 800 blocks of Main Street, will be blocked off to vehicles in order to accommodate seating for the picnic during this time period. US 27 North and South will remain open to vehicular traffic.

Not only will there be a United Way Celebrity Bake-off, Celebrity picnic volunteers, and great food, September 13 is another day in the series of Main Street Sidewalk Sales! After you enjoy food from some of your favorite vendors, take a stroll down Main Street to shop the special promotions during the LAST Main Street Sidewalk Sale of the season!

The last two Main Street Sidewalk Sales of the season will take place on Friday, September 7 (During the Walk of Fame Weekend) and on Thursday, September 13 (During the 17th Annual Community Picnic).

Look for red and maroon balloons lining Main Street on September 13 during the Community Picnic to get great deals from local merchants.

As the colder months approach, keep an eye out for the Center City Discount Card, which will be available by December to purchase for family, friends, or for yourself!

Merchants will provide discounts to shoppers who purchase the card and will be able to use the discounts throughout the 2013 calendar year: before, during, and after next season’s sidewalk sales!

Center City Discount Cards will be made and distributed in December 2012 for use in the 2013 calendar year.

These cards will work much like the “Bulldog Cards” or “Red Devil Cards” from schools. Central Business Districts can choose to participate in this card by providing a discount for the 2013 calendar year for card holders.

Center City Development Corporation will pay for the design and production of the cards. The only cost to business owners is the discount offered. Proceeds from these cards will be used for combined Central Business District marketing, promotions, events, and materials.

If your business has not yet provided a discount and would still like to be on the discount card, please contact Kaitlin at kaitlinv@mycentercity.com with your business name, point of contact, promotion/discount offered, and a digital file of your business’s logo.

Please join The Secret Ingredient for their 7th Annual Butterfly Release on Friday, September 7 at 11:00 am outside of their store.

The Butterfly Release is a fundraising activity to benefit the Cope Environmental Center, a non-for-profit organization helping our community understand environmental sustainability. You may purchase a butterfly with a $20 donation, which will be a total donation to the Cope Environmental Center.

This is also a unique opportunity to remember and honor a special person in your life who has made a positive impact through nurturing, mentoring, or caring. With each $20 donation you will receive one butterfly for a person who has made a difference in your life.

On Friday, September 7 at 11:00 am, the butterflies will be released at a ceremony honoring these

important people. Your honoree’s name will then be displayed in the window of The Secret Ingredient for three weeks.

Refreshments will follow for those in attendance. Please join The Secret Ingredient for their 7th Annual Fundraiser.

The Secret Ingredient Butterfly Release 2011

The Starr-Gennett Walk of Fame Music Festival 2012 will be held this year on Friday, September 7th and Saturday, September 8th.

There will be a concert Friday evening after the VIP at Murray Theatre at 7:30pm by the Faux Frenchmen (a Gypsy Swing Quartet). Tickets will be sold to the public for $15.

All concerts and daytime events on Saturday are FREE to the public (Donations Accepted) and will take place at Whitewater Gorge Park, 201 South 1st Street.

Music & Arts Vendors will be open 12pm-6pm, the Food and Beer Garden will be open 12pm-6pm, there will be Free Kids Game & Activity booths from 12pm-4pm,

and blow up rides will be there until 4:00pm. FREE concerts include the Jonny Hazard Band with Randy Baker, Brian Keith Whalen, Direct Contact Latin Jazz with Pavel, and featured performer, Duke Tumatoe & The Power Trio!
