Before you begin

1. EnabletheCloudConnectionforCloudServices.2. UpdateorinstallthePartnerCloudBuildingBlock.

Iftheblockisalreadyinstalledonyourinstitution’sinstanceofBlackboardLearn,updateittothemostrecentversionsupportedbyCengage.AsofJuly2019,themostrecentversionisRelease3700.5.0-rel.14+eacb9cf.Thefollowingversionsarealsosupported.UsingasupportedversionoftheblockensuresthatyourCengageforBlackboardintegrationhasthemostrecentfeatures.

3. EnsuretheBlackboardLearnenvironmentcancommunicatewithexternalCloudServicesthroughfirewallorsecuritysoftware.ThisincludestestordevelopmentenvironmentsthataccesstheBlackboardCloud.

Configuring Cengage Integration ThefollowingstepscanbetakentoconfigureCengage:

1. FromtheAdministratorPanel,locatetheCloudManagementmoduleandselectthePartnerCloudSettingsoption.

2. LocatetheConfigureandActivatePartnersAvailablethroughthePartnerCloudsectionandCengage.SelectSettingsinthecontextualmenu.ThiswilldirectyoutothePartner-SpecificSettingpage.

Eachpartnerlistedmayhave1ormorethefollowingoptionsinthecontextualmenu:

• SettingstoaccesstheCengageconfigurationpage.Onceconfiguredthroughthesettingspage,CengagecanbemadeavailablethroughtheContentandToolscolumnwithinthissection.TheCengagecontentcanthenbeaddedandaccessedwithinaBlackboardLearncourse.

• MigrationToolThemigrationtoolallowsinstitutionstoenhancetheintegrationofthePartnerproductswithBlackboard'sPartnerCloudintegrationbyprovidingtheabilitytomigrateexistingPartnerstandaloneBuildingBlockcontentovertothePartnerCloudframework.

3. UnderSetupCengageIntegrationontheConfigureCengagepage,validatetheApplicationIdispresent.


ProceedbyspecifyinghowthespecificCengagelinksarelaunchedwiththefollowingoptions:

4. TheoptiontoopentheCengagelinksinnewwindowdeterminesiftheCengagecontentwillalwaysopenintheBlackboardLearnwindoworanewwindow.TheCengageintegrationcurrentlyonlysupportslaunchinglinksinanewwindow.Therefore,theoptionwilldefaulttoYesandappearasnon-editable.

5. TheShareUserInformationoptionspecifieshowinformationshouldbesharedbetweentheBlackboardLearnandCengageservers.

YesindicatesthatBlackboardLearnuserinformationwillbesharedwithCengage.Thisincludestheuserfirstname,lastnameandemailaddress.

NoindicatesuserinformationwillnotbesharedwithCengage.

UserChoiceindicatesthateachindividualuserwillbepromptedtodecidehowtheirinformationshouldbesentupontheirfirstlaunchofanyCengagelink.

DefaultfromBuildingBlockindicatesthatthePartnerCloudBuildingBlockoptionwillbeused.Thisisthedefault.


6. TheDoyouwanttoenablethefollowingdetailswithCengageoptionspecifieshowuser,course,grade,andmembershipinformationshouldbesharedbetweentheBlackboardLearnandpartnerservers.

UserFieldstoSendindicatesthatselectedBlackboardLearnuserinformationwillbesharedwithCengage.

AllowGradeServiceAccessindicatesCengagewillprovidegradeinformationtocourse.

AllowMembershipServiceAccessindicatesthattheCengageintegrationhastheabilitytoviewcoursemembershipinformation.

7. SelectSubmittosaveallchanges.

8. Uponsubmission,theregistrationprocesswilloccurandtheRegistrationStatusatthetopoftheCengageConfigurationpagewillbeupdatedtoindicateeitherasuccessfulorfailedregistration.

9. Uponasuccessfulregistration,theCengageintegrationrequiresyoutoregisteryoursitebyclickingtheRegisterwithToolProviderbuttonlocatedundertheSetupCengageIntegrationsection.

10. LocatetheConfigureandActivatePartnersAvailablethroughtheCloudsectionandCengage.WithinthecolumnContentandTools,thepartnercanbemadeavailablebytogglingtheoptiontoON.

11. ClickSubmit.


RemovingAccesstoCengage1. FromtheAdministratorPanel,locatetheCloudManagementmoduleandselectthePartnerCloud

Settingsoption.

2. LocatetheConfigureandActivatePartnersAvailablethroughthePartnerCloudsectionandCengage.WithintheContentandToolscolumn,theoptioncanbetoggledbetweenONandOFFforavailability.SelectingOFFwilldisablethepartnerintegration.

3. ClickSubmit.


Instructor Cengage Integration Usage OncethePartnerCloudBuildingBlockisavailableandpartnersconfigured,instructorswillhavetheabilitytoaddpartnercontentwithinacourse.

1. Usingthecoursemenu,instructorsshouldnavigatetoacontentareainwhichtheywishtoaddapartnercontentitem.

2. InstructorsshouldselectthePartnerContentoptionandclickonContentMarket.

3. TheContentMarketpagewilllaunchallowingtheinstructortopicktheappropriatepartnercontent.FortheCengageintegration,selecttheblueCENGAGEiconandthenselecttheCengageimage.

AssociatedPartnerswilldisplaypartnersalreadyassociatedtothecourse.


4. AfterselectingCengage(blue&whiteCengageicon),instructorswillbemaybepromptedintwodifferentways:
