Cell
• Basic unit of life
• Smallest unit of life
• Come in different shape, size and structures

Plant Cell• Allows substances to move around within the
cell (cytoplasm)
• Contains genetic informations and controls all the activities in the cell (nucleus)
• Controls the movement of substances moving in and out (cell membrane)
• Gives the plant cell its shape (cell wall)
• Traps sunlight to make food for the plant (chloroplasts)
• Contains dissolved sugar in cell sap and stores the sugar (vacuoles)

Animal Cell
• Allows substances to move around within the cell (cytoplasm)
• Contains genetic informations and controls all the activities in the cell (nucleus)
• Controls the movement of substances moving in and out (cell membrane)
• Contains dissolved sugar in cell sap and stores the sugar (vacuoles)

Parts of a Microscope
• The eye looks through the specimen (eyepiece)
• Can be turned to allow the different objectives to be used (nosepiece)
• Can be turned to focus the specimen or raise or lower the stage (big/small adjustment knob)
• Magnify the specimen (objectives)
• The glass slide is placed (stage)

Cell Division
• Cells increases in this process
• New cells are produced to replace dead or damaged cells so that it enables organisms to grow
• There are unicellular and multicellular cells
