Cell :- The Unit Of Life
It is the basic structural, functional and biological unit of all known living organisms.
Cells are the smallest unit of life that can replicate independently, and are often called the “building blocks of life”.
Types of Organism:
Unicellular Organism: Made up of single cell. For eg: Amoeba, Paramoecium etc.
Multicellular Organism: Made up of many cells. For eg: Elephant, Plants etc.
Shape of Cells:Cells are of different shapes. Some Cells keep changing their shapes. Ex: Amoeba. Some Cells are spherical, round, elongated, spindle shaped or
branched.
To be continued:Cell membrane: It is a thin layer that surrounds the cell. It selectively allows the movement of substances into and out of the cell. It also gives shape to the cells.Nucleus: A dense, rounded body that controls all the activities of the cell. It is called as brain of the cell.Cell Wall: It is the additional wall outside the cell membrane. It is present only in plant cells. It is important for plants since they do not have skeleton for support and protection.Cytoplasm: It is a jelly like substance inside the cell. It has nucleus and various other cellular components with in it. These components are called as cell organelles.
