CELEBRATIONSE4 ✦ SUNDAY, JAN 24, 2010 GLOBE GAZETTE

I would like to introduce youto a good man. My best friend,my big brother. A loving sonand dedicated husband, hisname is Chad Sterrenberg. Forthose of you who don't knowChad -- he is a 32 year oldman who likes to stay activewith woodworking, riding hisbike, lifting weights andworking in his yard or gardenin the warm summer months.Chad also has a passion for

watching professional football and basketball. In additionto these things Chad is a man who has lived most of his lifestruggling with Type 1 diabetes, or better known asJuvenile diabetes. Chad has faced many obstacles with thisdisease such as; severe weight loss, near diabetic comaepisodes and worst of all -- the loss of 75% of his eyesight.

I am so proud of Chad for his strength to persevere andbravery to endure many awful surgeries to restore whateyesight he has today. I am thankful to have my big brotherin my life. He is one of the kindest, most likable humanbeings I know. That is why I want to help Chad spread theword of his need for a sensor to assist his insulin pump.Diabetic sensors are not inexpensive and Medicare andMedicaid do not cover the cost at this time. The use of aninsulin pump along with a sensor helps an insulindependent diabetic live more like a healthy person, but alsoassists in stabilizing sugar levels, mood and energy. Thisallows the diabetic to avoid further deterioration of thebody, depression and fatigue more effectively.

A benefit is planned for the cost of the sensor. Theremainder of the proceeds will be donated to the JuvenileDiabetes Foundation. If you're interested in donatingyour time or resources please call (515) 864-9531.
