Upcoming Exhibits at HCCA March 14–April 25Gallery I: Alternative Processes—Alternative MaterialsGallery II: No Boundaries

Each year the Arts Council and the Howard County Public School System celebrate Youth Art Month with a special exhibit of artwork created by Howard County public school students in grades K–12. This year’s theme, Alternative Processes—Alternative Materials, inspired hundreds of remarkable student works in a variety of media. The annual No Boundaries exhibit showcases artwork created by individuals with disabilities in art classes run by the Howard County Recreation and Parks’ Department of Therapeutic Recreation and Inclusion Services.

Both exhibits are on display at HCCA from March 14–April 25, with a reception on March 14 from 5–7pm. To learn more about Arts Council programs and exhibits, call 410-313-ARTS (2787) or visit www.hocoarts.org. H

Advancing our goals to engage the community and enhance public spaces, the Arts Council is pleased to announce its third annual outdoor art exhibit, ARTsites 2014. The exhibit, which will place 12 sculptures at locations throughout Howard County, will be installed in May 2014 and remain in place until August 2015, creating visual anchor points and increasing community access to the arts.

The ARTsites panel selected the host sites and narrowed down the artwork submissions to 35 finalists. The individual sites then selected the work to be installed at their location from among those finalists. The panel consisted of Randy Clay, Howard County Planning & Zoning; Julie Hughes-Jenkins, Corporate Office Properties Trust; Lucas Cowan, Maryland State Arts Council; Mary Kay Sigaty, Howard County Council; and Coleen West, HCAC.
