O. P. Jindal School, Urjanagar organized
Jagriti, Awakening the Indian Youth an Inter
School Competition
Inter School Vedic Mantra Recital Competition
Inter School Vedic Mantra recital competition for students of Class V to XII was the first event where six schools of
the vicinity participated in the competition. The ambience was enchanted with the resonance of Vedic Mantras as
the participating schools recited the mantras in pure Vedic Sanskrit. The incantation purified the air with all
spiritualism and aesthetic sense. The competition was judged by very able judges Prof. B. K. Bhagat, from KMT Girls
College, Raigarh and Sri Manoj Ku. Sarangi, Lecturer, Govt. Sr. Secondary School, Raigarh. First position was pulled
off by Host school and since the host school didn’t claim the prize being the organizing school, the first position was
bagged by DAV School, Chhaal where as the second and third positions were achieved by O. P. Jindal School, Angul
and O. P. Jindal School, Raigarh respectively.
Inter School Skit Competition
Hindi Skit Inter School competitionfor students of class added a special charm and magnetism to the

portrayed the life and philosophy of Swamiji so realistically that the audience felt to be in the time and land of
Swamiji. The performances awestruck the audience and filled them with a spiritual message mingled with the sense
of universal brotherhood. The skits were judged by Mr. Binod Bohidar, President IPTA and Aparna Srivastav,
Secretary, IPTA on the basis of acting, dialogue delivery, costumes, presentation and message. First position was
pulled off by O. P. Jindal School, Raigarh where as the second position was a tie between O. P. Jindal School, Tamnar
and DAV School, Chhaal and third position was achieved by O. P. Jindal School, Angul.
Inter School Devotional Song Competition
The devotional song competition, as part of the 150th
Birth Anniversary celebration of Swami Vivekananda was truly
something to reckon with. The students of OPJS, Anugul were the first to hold centre stage. As the utterly enchanting
strains of the flute transported each one present, to the land of the Gods, the children invoked the blessings of Lord
Shiva, as if to say petulantly, ‘we are your humble devotees, bless us’. The innocence, sweetness and awe one can
find only in a child’s voice reverberated through the auditorium as each group sang straight from the heart. The
beats of the tabla and the harmonium accompanied the renditions. The Upper Primary School children from
Saraswat, Libra effortlessly, with hands joined in supplication, did not really require any musical instrument , nor did
they have any, to make us feel the presence of the Almighty in our midst as they so superbly sang ‘Sri Ram Saranam
Namah….’ Though the host school was judged as the best performer the first prize went to DAV, Chaal and the, the
rest of the seven teams proved tough competitors and truly being in the judges’ shoes, Prof.Bhagat and Mr. Manoj
Ku. Sarangi must have had an unenviable task on their hands.
Inter School Portrait Making Competition
It was a room full of portraits of the Swamiji. Some were pencil shadings while others were coloured blowups. To the
layman all of them were awesome sketches of the Swami
himself. Yet, there were different strokes that set some apart
from the rest. The criteria for judgment was sketching,
proportion, colouring and finishing, no mean feat for the
children to accomplish. And yet they did. Though refreshingly
amateurish, the painstakingly drawn portraits were a delight to
the senses. Once again the first, second and third prizes were
bagged by the home team consisting of Jahnavi Sinha, Tiyasha
Basak and Dileswari Sahu (in that order). However, gracious as
they were, each one of them handed over their prizes to Pooja
Patel, Amit Swaranka and Amit Patel (DAV, Chaal) who were

second in order of merit. Kudos to them! All in all, a visual treat. This event was organized for the students of class 6

It was really a thrilling verbal jargon presented by the students of participating schools. They presented their views
with clarity and conviction. It was mesmerizing to see the well prepared and aptly chosen words presented by the
students. Every participant was showcasing great confidence and enthusiasm. All the presentation highlighted the
relevance of the teaching of Swami Vivekananda in the present society as a youth icon. All the participants were
highly motivated and were urging all to emulate the virtues of Swami Vivekananda in our daily life. The core message

of the participants .The enthusiastic participants justified the topic thoroughly,
thereby giving interesting illustrations and examples from the life of Swami
