PARENTS CORNERWe encourage you to join in the learning adventure! While we are excited for the journey kids will take at Street 2:52, we know that parents play the most influential role in their child’s faith. Take some time to get to know the story we’ll be studying during this rotation. Knowing the story will give you a peek at what your kids are learning and also help you take the learning journey into your home throughout the week. Who knows, maybe you’ll discover something fresh for yourself and hear God speaking in a new way. God’s word is for all generations!

READ THE STORY:Luke 19:28-44Read the passage of Scripture. Underline, circle or otherwise mark text if it will aid your study.

REFLECT & ASK YOURSELF:The following questions have been adapted from Anne Graham Lotz. Consider writing your reflections down as a way to focus your thoughts.

• List the Facts: What does the passage say? What is happening in the story? What is the context of the story - what happened before this story took place?

• Learn the Lessons: What does the passage mean? Who is God in this passage? How are His people responding? What is God trying to teach us?

• Listen to His Voice: What does the passage mean to you? What could you take away from this reading? How is God asking you to respond to His teaching?

• Live in Response: Pinpoint what God is saying to you from the passage. How will you respond? Write down an action that you will take.

WANT TO LEARN SOME MORE?There are many resources you can check out to learn more from this passage. Here are a few you may want to take advantage of:

CLICK HERE to read a Palm Sunday Sermon: NT Wright is a well known New Testament theologian. He writes a fantastic sermon on the story of Palm Sunday. CLICK HERE to search some Bible CommentariesCLICK HERE to visit Bible.OrgSimply enter your passage to the search bar and you can find Bible studies written by well known authors and theologians.

SEIZE THE MOMENT and take some time to ask your kids about what they are learning at Street 2:52. Here are some discussion topics you could explore:

• Discuss how the people of Jerusalem had been waiting a long time for a savior. What had they expected in a king?

• If Jesus showed up today, what would He be travelling in, what would people think or say?• What is it like to be waiting for Jesus today? What will be the first thing you ask, say or do

with Jesus when you see Him?• Ask your kids to discuss how their friends at school feel about and respond to Jesus. There

may be some similarities to Jerusalem - some accept Jesus, some are sceptical about who He is, some don’t understand and others completely reject Him.

• Discuss ways you as a family can tell people about Jesus and share His love.• Practice the memory verse(s) together.• See how much of the story they can remember. Ask them to teach you the story!

QUESTIONS FOR THE CAR

DIG INTO GOD’s WORD AS A FAMILY

We are confident that after 5 weeks of studying Palm Sunday at Street 2:52 your children are going to know the story VERY well! There are more stories that your family can read together to expand the learning experience. Use the next 5 weeks to read all about the Holy Week!

You can find accounts of the Holy Week in all 4 gospels. Here’s a quick summary of Holy Week:Palm Sunday: Accompanied by His disciples, Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a colt, while crowds of people covered the streets ahead of Him with their cloaks and with palm branches.Monday: Jesus chased the money-changers out of the Temple.Tuesday and Wednesday: Jesus preached and taught in Jerusalem.Thursday: After washing the feet of the disciples, Jesus celebrated the Feast of the Passover, His last supper. This was also the first commemoration of communion. After the supper, Jesus and His disciples went to Gethsemane to pray. Jesus was arrested by the Temple guard and taken to the Sanhedrin.Good Friday: Jesus was taken into Roman courts, before Pontius Pilate and Herod Antipas, who sent Him back to the Jewish court. Roman soldiers took Him to Golgotha, the place of the skull, where He was crucified.Saturday: Jesus rested in the tomb while His disciples observed the Sabbath.Easter Sunday: An angel met Mary Magdalene and “the other Mary” (perhaps Mary, the mother of James and John) at the tomb to tell them that Jesus was risen from the dead.

Curriculum Resource TeamWe are looking for 1-3 people to join a Curriculum Resource Team for Street 2:52. This is a behind the scenes volunteer opportunity with extreme flexibility and no minimum contribution required. Wondering if this would be of interest to you? Check and see if any of the following apply to you:

• You enjoy surfing the internet for ideas/resources• You have experience teaching children• When teaching kids in the past you have found yourself adjusting the provided

material to create a more engaging lesson• You consider yourself a creative thinker• You enjoy planning or organizing• Working independently and on your own schedule appeals to you• You would find it rewarding to study the Bible in a fresh and exciting way

We are passionate about giving our kids the best teaching opportunities we can when they come to Street 2:52. Many of our lessons are developed by accessing resources online and when an excellent idea just can’t be found we write our own. As a Curriculum Resource Team we work together to gather and write the best lessons we can. Training is provided as well as easy to use templates and a list of searchable resources. You can write lessons directed at a specific area of interest (Cooking, Drama, Games, etc) or choose a story of interest. Maybe you can write one lesson a month or complete several over the course of a year. Your level of involvement is completely up to you.

If this type of role interests you please contact Andrea Anderst to ask questions and learn more.
