Celebrating Weekly Liturgy at Home Date: June 28 th The Thirteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time Title: Give without Expectation Focus: Let us welcome the Disciples of Jesus; to be sincerely generous in word and deed. Context: As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are never alone. Just as Christ reflects the Father, we, as disciples of Christ, reflect the love of Jesus for all people. Our actions have great impact – however small and humble, whether they are acts of welcome or acts of sharing – not only within our interpersonal relationships but also on the entire world. Catechism Reference: Grounded in the gift of charity, Christians act out of love and compassion for those in need. Hospitality and kindness are manifestations of Christian love and the hallmarks of daily Christian life. Such a life is sustained through prayer and continual conversion. (CCC 1971, 1427 - 28) Did You Know? . . . that Jesus frequently uses touch to show his compassion for others as he heals them? In the healing of the woman with a hemorrhage, Jesus feels her touch him and feels his healing power go to her. Jesus’ touch of lepers, blind men, servants, and women is important to our understanding of Christ’s care for us. Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, you said to the Apostles, “Come, follow me.” You say the same words to us, today and every day. Help us to follow you faithfully: to walk in the way of your commandments, to help those who are struggling, and to love all people as you love them. May we rejoice in your presence with us as we work to build up the Kingdom of God, where you live and reign with the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. Gospel Acclamation: You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy people. Praise God who called you out of darkness and into His marvelous light. Gospel: Matthew 10:37 - 42 Saint: John the Baptist (June 24) Read about St. John the Baptist and discuss the questions. https://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=324 https://www.loyolapress.com/catholic-resources/saints/saints-stories-for-all-ages/the- birth-of-john-the-baptist/
