94% unannounced• Cleaner wards and departments• Cleaner patient equipment• Fewer maintenance, repairs and refurbishment issues• Better access to training and education• Infection control manual in every ward• Cleanliness champions everywhere• Great team working with nurses, domestics and estates• Infection control everyone’s responsibility

WHAT PATIENTS AND THE PUBLIC TELL ME

• 87% of patients say their wards are “always clean”.• 10% of patients say their wards are “mostly clean”.• 70% of patients say staff always wash their hands.• 20% of patients say staff usually wash their hands.

However, patients still don’t always feel they canchallenge poor practices.
