What a year – Thanks to You!The 2014-15 year was another outstanding one for Central Missouri Athletics. Five teams captured MIAA Regular Season Championships, three more captured MIAA Tournament Titles and Jennies Track & Field completed an amazing year by winning both the Indoor and Outdoor National Championships, the first two NCAA team titles in program history!

Jennies Indoor Track & Field, Jennies Soccer, Jennies Softball, Jennies Volleyball and Mules Golf all brought home conference crowns. In addition, Jennies Soccer, Jennies Softball and Mules Golf won MIAA Tournament titles.

Six teams finished in the top 10 of NCAA Division II, and 11 sports out of 17 qualified for NCAA postseason play. Jennies Track & Field captured the indoor and outdoor National Championship, Mules Golf finished third, Jennies Soccer was sixth, while Jennies Bowling and Jennies Softball were both eighth nationally.

Individually, UCM had 46 different All-America seasons and performances and UCM student-athletes brought home eight individual national championships, six in track & field, one in wrestling and one in men’s golf. Erika Kinsey captured three individual titles in the indoor triple jump, indoor and outdoor high jump, Brittany Kallenberger won her first title in the outdoor pole vault, Caniggia Raynor won the discus title and Heavin Warner won her second straight national title in the hammer throw. Frank Cagnina captured his second consecutive wrestling national title at 149 lbs. and Sam Migdal won the first individual national championship in the history of Mules Golf.

Kinsey was honored as the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Indoor Field Athlete of the Year and was also named the USTFCCCA Indoor Scholar-Athlete of the Year, while Kallenberger was the Outdoor Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Warner was awarded Outdoor Regional Field Athlete of the Year honors. In addition, Ben Barrows of Mules Cross Country and Track & Field was awarded a prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and Carly Thomas of Jennies Bowling won the Elite 89 Award by having the highest overall GPA of any student-athlete competing at the NCAA Bowling Championships.

The Central Missouri athletics program capped off the year by placing third in the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup for the second straight year. It was the 15th time in the last 16 seasons that UCM has placed in the top 20 in the Directors’ Cup standings.

Our 500-plus student-athletes continued their success in the classroom as well, with 218 student-athletes being named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll, including 17 Academic Excellence Awards for student-athletes with perfect 4.0 GPAs. Twenty-nine UCM student-athletes were honored as MIAA Scholar-Athletes, boasting grade point averages of 3.5 or higher and having earned All-MIAA honors in their respective sports. In addition, six UCM student-athletes were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-Region Teams in their respective sports, while three earned Academic All-America honors.

Let’s celebrate these accomplishments as we look forward to a great 2015-2016 season!

Schedule set for 2015-2016 UCM Mule Train events The schedule has been set for the 2015-2016 University of Central Missouri Mule Train functions. These events will include monthly luncheons at Heroes Restaurant & Pub, tailgates prior to home Mules football games, and basketball postgame receptions at Traditions Restaurant in the Audrey J. Walton Clubhouse at Keth Memorial Golf Course.

Mule Train Luncheons will take place at Heroes at 107 West Pine in Warrensburg. Held at noon, these luncheons will feature an excellent buffet at a cost of $9. UCM coaches will review the previous weekend of competition and a raffle will be held for UCM athletic gear at each monthly gathering.

This fall, prior to all Mules home football games, the UCM Mule Train will again host a pregame tailgate party for members. Each will begin two hours before kickoff, and food and beverage will be provided by the specified game sponsor. In 2015, the Mule Train tent will be located just west of Walton Stadium. Guests may accompany Mule Train members at a cost of $10 for adults and $5 for children.

During basketball season, Mule Train postgame receptions will be held following Saturday MIAA games at Traditions Restaurant. Food and beverage will be provided.
