the Neighborhood Design Center has worked on more than 3,000 projects that support the development of healthy, thriving, and equitable neighborhoods. We’ve done this in collaboration with visionary residents, design experts, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations from Baltimore City, Prince George’s County, and beyond.

this work is more vital than ever. With 50 years behind us and dedicated partners by our side, NDC is poised to push the practice of community of design forward in new and boundary-breaking ways. From hosting a nationally attended conference to undertaking a multi-city planting project, our 50th year is our most ambitious yet—and we need your help to make it a success. Here's how to get involved.

NDC has also taken major strides as an organization. In the last five years, we’ve doubled our operating budget, added key new staff members, moved both offices to prominent arts districts, created a new website and revamped our social media visibility, and engaged in long-term strategic planning.

We’ve also doubled our staff, collaborated with landscape architects, artists, planners, civil engineers, architects and others to leverage $292,750 worth of volunteer hours in 2017; and reached and surpassed a $1Million budget.

Reverberations | Roots and Relevance of Community Design

We’re honored to host the Association for Community Design’s 2018 Conference, which will bring together more than 250 community members, faculty, students, design professionals, firms, nonprofits, and local government representatives. This year’s event will facilitate dialogue on the intersection of community design, racial equity, and environmental justice. The ACD Conference will help position NDC—and Baltimore as a whole—as leaders in the work of making great and inclusive places.

NDC will give out 10,000 daffodil bulbs in bags of 50 to local partners from our half-century of community work. This coordinated planting will mark our many successful collaborations and serve as a recognition of neighborhood partnerships.

#GivingTuesday, a global day of giving, amplifies the work of nonprofits. Last year #GivingTuesday raised $177 Million online, and continues to see broad social media exposure, with millions of engagements. This year, NDC aims to raise $5,000 in individual donations. We’re looking for a prime sponsor to match what we raise and help us reach our $10,000 goal.
