Established in 1973, our diesel repair and performance truck products shop has grown from a tiny, one-man show into a thriving national operation. In the early '70s, Val Leefers discovered his passion and talent for innovative diesel performance upgrades that improve fuel injection systems and repairing diesel pumps. AfAfter honing his diesel repair skills, Val built a small building just outside Carlinville, Illinois; bought $1300 in inventory; and hung his shingle. Area Diesel Service was open for business, though business wasn't exactly booming.

Val sweated out the rough early years the only way he saw fit—by establishing innovative diesel performance that saves customers money over the long haul and by providing dedicated, honest service. Remaining true to those core values toto this day, Area Diesel has earned its place as a leader in the Midwest diesel market and later looked to expand on that success.

As Area Diesel Service solidified our reputation for providing innovative diesel performance through quality parts and service, both our building and team grew. The Carlinville diesel repair shop has continually expanded to accomodate our passion for innovation. In 1984, we opened a second location outside Des Moines, Iowa, letting our team serve diesel owners west of the Mississippi. MATS 2018 Highlights

Once again, we were excited to be showing at the Mid-America Trucking Show in the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, KY. This years show was held March 22-24. Founded in 1972, MATS is the longest running must-see event for the trucking industry. The show attracts some 75,000 attendeesattendees from all across the US and abroad.

As with years past, attendees were treated to a plethora of new product launches, hands-on demonstrations, educational seminars and special events. One such event saw lifelong Peterbilt devotee, Rick McClerkin of San Jose, CA named as the Ultimate Peterbilt SuperFan. His reward? A brand new 2018 Peterbilt Model 567 Heritage with custom chrome work done by none other than Chrome Shop Mafia based in Joplin, MO. The new 567 Heritage came equipped with the PACCAR MX-13 engine, PACCAR Automated Transmission and PACCAR 40k Rear Axle.

McClerkin was chosen from a field of over 1,500 entries. Oh and did I forget to mention that this is no normal truck. This particular 567 Heritage is the 1 Millionth truck built by Peterbilt. McClerkin also received free oil changes for up to a million miles! million miles!

Friday night was capped off in traditional MATS fashion with a FREE concert for attendees. This years concert featured Country Music Star and American Idol Alum, Kellie Pickler. The free show was sponsored by ExxonMobil and the Mobil Delvac team. Tickets for the Friday evening showshow were passed out free of charge to attendees on Thursday and Friday at the Mobil Delvac booth in the North Hall.

As with years previous, MATS offered attendees a host of educational, trucking-oriented seminars. All seminars were held free of charge to event attendees. This years topics included How to Run Your Business, Sharpening Your Negotiating Skills, Electronic Logging and several others. These seminarsseminars offer information to attendees that goes beyond “good to know” and enters into a “must know” situation.

All in all we have to say the show was once again a smashing success. Area Diesel Service has been attending MATS for over 25 years and with the trucking industry growing at such a rapid pace, we foresee many more years of visting the Kentucky Expo Center each March!

Coming Soon...In the spirit of growth and expansion, we are excited to announce that coming soon we will be converting to a new custom ERP (business software) that will position us to better serve our dealers and distributors. Better invoice tracking, core eligibilty reporting, and customer relations dashboard are just of few of the amazing enhancements coming down the pipeline. We anticipate the lauch of this new ERP in 3Q 2018. Stay tuned for more information on this.

At Area Diesel Service, we strive to have the best quality products available. To that end, we have been working hard behind the scenes to earn our ISO9001 Quality Standards Certification. Stay tuned for more details on that as they come.
