Instructions for Use: Piggy-back the MPC-75 indicator extension with your usual bloodline (with transducer protector) for external, visual indication of bloodline-supplied transducer protector breaches (strike-through). If your bloodline does not come equipped with transducer protectors, a sterile transducer protector must be placed between the indicator extension and the bloodline set. Immediate replacement of this product should occur if any sign of contamination (fluid or blood) is seen. Regular replacement should occur as determined by your unit administrator and unit protocols. In no event should fluid in the line be allowed to remain during treatment.

When the flow restrictor is engaged, the dialysate flow through the restrictor provides the pressure differential for large ultrafiltration in dialyzer # 1, yielding additional convective removal of middle weight molecules. As the flow resistance of the MPC-728 is increased, the dialysate pressure in the dialysate compartment of dialyzer # 2, is at a very high rate while the dialysate pressure in the dialysate compartment of dialyzer # 1 is at a very low rate, thus permitting an increase in fluid ultrafiltration from the blood to the dialysate in dialyzer # 1 and backfiltration of dialysate to the blood in dialyzer # 2. The quantity of fluid ultrafiltered in dialyzer # 1 is compensated for by backfiltration of dialysate into dialyzer # 2. Therefore mimicking the natural kidney. The volumetric control in the dialysis machine will ensure the balance of fluid, accounting for proper removal of fluid gained by the patient since the preceding dialysis. Since it will be possible to variably control the rate of ultrafiltration and backfiltration by adjusting the flow restrictor, it will be possible to apply this treatment to a larger number of patients with a wide range of attainable blood flows. This also provides a method for individualizing the treatment for each patient’s needs.

The flow restrictor gives the physician the ability to prescribe treatment specific to the individual.

The flow restrictor can be used to progressively vary the flow resistance and the rate of dialysate flow through the system. The positioning of the flow restrictor should be based on the readings provided by indicators associated with the dialysis machine. The flow restrictor will remain in whatever position it is placed in by the operator.

The flow restrictor of the MPC-728 enables the user to adjust the flow upon evaluating the TMP (Transmembrane Pressure) levels. As the flow restrictor is engaged it gradually reduces the flow through the tubing, thus altering the pressures which enhance ultrafiltration and convective removal of middle molecular weight solutes.

When set to maximum, the flow restrictor still allows for a minimum flow path with a fixed flow resistance. This serves to prevent the triggering of machine alarms and the clotting of the blood flow circuit of the dialyzer due to excessive ultrafiltration.

Guidelines to Optimal Performance

Step 1: Twist the DIN end of the MPC-700 into the blood port of the dialyzer.

Step 2: Push the Colder® fitting end of the MPC-700 into the Renatron® machine connection.

The Barrier Adapter with Q-Seal helps ensure patient safety from cross-contamination during reprocessing. Use our self-sealing Dialysate Sampling Port Kit within the dialysate fluid pathway of your dialysis machine for a fast, safe

and reliable means of drawing your dialysate test samples! Compatible with all standard dialysis germicides.

Instructions for Use:

1. Place Barbed T-Fitting Luer Connector into dialysate line in which samples are to be drawn.

2. Twist access site onto the luer connector of the Barbed T-Fitting inserted into line; turn clockwise to form a secure connection.

3. Sanitize access site using your approved unit protocols regarding injection site preparation.

4. Attach lever lock cannula to syringe.

5. Push the syringe cannula into the access site and advance.

6. Extract desired amount of sample and withdraw the cannula. The access site will seal automatically.
