T HE BEAUTY OF SANTA BARBARA and some of the people who are responsible for enhancing it were honored at the 41st annual Santa Barbara Beautiful Awards at the historic Lobero Theatre on September 25th. The evening’s theme, “Celebrating 10,000 Trees” reflected one of the organizations greatest acheivments. In April 2005 the organization, in conjunction with the City of Santa Barbara planted its 10,000th street tree. Huell Howser, popular PBS Host and Producer of California’s Gold, served as special guest host - one of the highlights of the evening. SBB President Desmond O’Neill greeted the near-capacity audience and introduced many honored guests in attendance. The evening awards featured a short animation created by Keith English of Screaming Pixels with original music composed by Mark Henderson followed by a colorful hi-definition video presentation of three special awards and 13 award winning properties by Dana Morrow. Other award presentations included local artist and gallery owner Ralph Waterhouse presenting Huell Howser with the painting Mission Santa Barbara on behalf of the SBB board of directors and councilmember Helene Schneider presenting 100 Years of Parks book, poster, and cap to Howser on behalf of the City of Santa Barbara. The City Arts Advisory Committee presented the first annual “Business in Art” Award to CASA Santa Barbara Magazine during the SBB ceremony. Leon Olson, City Arts Advisory Committee Chair made the presentation to Kerry Methner and Mark Whitehurst. The SBB President’s Award was presented to the SB Botanic Garden; the Jacaranda Award for Community Service was presented to the SB City Parks Maintenance Staff; and the Heritage Oak Award for Lifetime Achievement was presented to The OAK Group. THE BEAUTY OF SANTA BARBARA and some of the people who are responsible for enhancing it were honored at the 41st annual Santa Barbara Beautiful Awards at the historic Lobero Theatre on

September 25th. The evening’s theme, “Celebrating 10,000 Trees”

reflected one of the organizations greatest acheivments. In April 2005 the organization, in conjunction with the City of Santa Barbara planted its 10,000th street tree.

Huell Howser, popular PBS Host and Producer of California’s Gold, served as special guest host - one of the highlights of the evening.

SBB President Desmond O’Neill greeted the near-capacity audience and introduced many honored guests in attendance.
