Congenital DiaphragmaticHernia (CDH) occurs when the

diaphragm fails to form or toclose totally and an openingallows abdominal organs intothe chest cavity. This inhibitslung growth.

CDH occurs in approximately1 in 2,500 births, 1,600 casesin the U.S. each year. The

diaphragm is formed in the firsttrimester of pregnancy andcontrols the lungs’ ability toinhale and exhale. The causeof CDH is not yet known.

Over 1600 babies are bornwith Congenital DiaphragmaticHernia EVERY YEAR in the

United States alone.

With a 50% survival rate, 800of those babies will die. Today, and every day, at least 4families will be devastated with

the news of CDH.

The Race to Raise CDH Awareness is a 5k

run/walk that will begin at 8:00 am atFriendship Park in Columbia, MS. A 1 -mileFun Run for kids ages 9 and under will take

place around the Friendship Park track. After the Fun Run, we will release balloons

in memory of Sela Marie.

family and friends but touched animmeasurable amount of people during her

time with us. The footprints you see here areSela’s very own and represent the imprint shemade in our lives. We continue to celebrate

Sela by raising awareness about CDH.
