2017 PERFORMANCE DATA SNAPSHOT

Real personal growth takes time and effort. Many of our Year

12 students who graduated in 2017 have been growing with us

since beginning in Reception.

During 2017, we increased our partnerships with other Christian

schools, hosting a number of events that have focused on

Christian leadership. It has been encouraging to see our High

School Prefects and Student Leaders take on increasing

responsibility for their school. This has been evidenced during

Chapel times, service activities and community involvement, both

locally and overseas with our Thailand Service Trip.

Our entire staff works very hard to create a positive environment,

where every person’s unique strengths and talents are celebrated.

We have a culture of high expectations for students and staff

alike, and it is our sincere goal that each and every one of our

students will graduate with a plan for the future and with the skills

necessary to be successful in anything they choose to do.

I trust that 2017 has been a significant year for

each student as they let God play a prominent

role in giving then wisdom, direction and strength

in all that they do. We can summarise by proudly

standing behind our motto: Discover Jesus,

Display Love and Develop Self.

CLASS OF 2017The College community would like to congratulate the Year 12

class of 2017 on the success achieved throughout the year.

Every graduating Cedar College student achieved their South

Australian Certificate of Education (SACE), as has been the case

for many years at Cedar. This is a significant achievement given

that the SACE completion rate across South Australia was 97%.

18% of our graduating Year 12s achieved an Australian Tertiary

Admission Rank (ATAR) of greater than 90, and 46% of our

students achieved an ATAR of 80 or more, placing them in the top

20% of students in the State. To have 46% of our students placed

in the top 20% of South Australian students is an amazing

achievement.

We are very proud of the outstanding results that our Year 12s

have achieved, and feel extremely blessed to be part of a school

community where students can fulfil their God-given academic

gifts, and progress to exciting post-school opportunities and

pathways.

Mr Peter Thomson Cedar College Principal

During the 2017 school year, it has been particularly exciting to witness the growth that

has taken place in the lives of our students.

In 1997, we started in three and a half buildings, and are

now using twenty. It has been a very exciting journey.

For the Board, there were important decisions on how best to

establish our foundations and direction, and accommodate

the growth.

For the staff there has been the challenge of establishing a

brand new work. For the students and their families there

were sacrifices, but with them, the excitement of being

pioneers.

The challenges are quite different now that we are

nearing our maximum size. As we move into a period of

consolidation, our focus as a Board has changed toward

strong governance systems, wise financial management

and policies for sustainable success. Our priority is to

consolidate a healthy and fruitful school culture.

Good staff are critical to delivering this culture, and we have

them. On behalf of the Board, I want to thank our wonderful

staff for their dedicated sacrifice and service for our

students.

The core of a healthy culture is already in place in our very

purpose. We want Cedar College always to be a place

where the next generation discovers Jesus for itself, where

students grow in character by displaying His love to others,

and where they develop individually to be the very best that

they can be. The key is Jesus, who loves us and died in our

place to give us an eternal future. We always want Jesus to

be at the centre of Cedar College.

Finally, thank you to you, our Cedar community, for your trust

in the school. It is a privilege to serve you.
