I am writing to apply for a licensed teaching position with the Clark County School District. With My Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education from Nevada State College, my goal is to become an advocate for children in Las Vegas by teaching and working within the community.
As a substitute in the district, I have grown a passion for enriching the lives of students that are in the valley. I have worked in schools in all areas of Las Vegas and Henderson and have had a diversity of experiences from school to school that make the area a very rewarding place to work within.
My own experience as a student in the Clark County School District was at the College of Southern Nevada High School where I began studying to become a teacher. This opportunity allowed me to receive the Outstanding Student Award for the Department of Education at CSN for the 2009-2010 school years. The connections that I made within the college lead me into the Student Teacher Enlistment Project Undergraduate Project (STEP UP), and propelled me further into my degree in Elementary Education. Having these opportunities, I earned my B.A. in 2012 with an endorsement for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
I am so thankful that programs within the area have allowed me to work toward a future as a teacher, recognizing and rewarding the hard work that I as well as other students have put forth. I admire the Clark County School District’s determination to make the improvements necessary to see growth within its schools. Given my motivation and eagerness to always learn, reflect, and improve, I believe that I would be an excellent addition to the district.
