Ulrike Mieg is a native of Germany and has been living in Finland for about 7 years. She has finished a 3 year course in textile arts and crafts with weaving as her main subject. Her weaving skills include the whole process from planning to the final product, which means all steps of doing the warp, preparing the loom and weaving the fabric. Her language skills include fluent English, German, Finnish and Swedish.

A brand new EU initiative has just been launched aimed at the Decorative Giftware Industry. Entitled Advanced Applications for Decorative Giftware Organisations or "ADA­GIO" for short, it is an ambitious EU 2.6 Million project the objective of which is to increase the turnover, profit and employment of the sector within a two year time-frame.

Transnational technology transfer between partners in Ireland, UK, Spain and Portugal will be used to infuse at least 20 participating firms in each region with the latest technolo­gies in Advanced Product Design, Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Quality Information Systems and Planning and Control Systems.
