Promotion RequirementsPromotion from Kindergarten to First Grade• Demonstrate proficiency of most kindergarten TEKS in reading, language arts, and mathematics, or be expected to do so early in first grade.• Parent permission is required for retention in kindergarten.

Promotion from First to Second Grade• Demonstrate proficiency of most first grade TEKS in reading, language arts, and mathematics, or be expected to do so early in second grade.

Grading• Grades and attendance will be taken and

available 24/7 on Home Access Center.

• Grades will be updated weekly.

Make-Up Work after Absence• All makeup work due to an absence must be

submitted within 5 school days of the day of return.

• No penalty is assigned for make-up work returned within 5 school days following an absence.

Late Work• A student will only receive 5 school days to turn

in work that has not been submitted.• Please let us know if they are needing assistance

with completing their missing assignments or there is a certain situation going on in the home.

• Online tutoring available.

Redo/ Retakes/ Reteach● Students who do not receive a passing

grade on an assignment or assessment will be provided multiple opportunities to redo or retake the assignment or assessment for which they received a failing grade.

● Teachers will provide re-teaching to students who do not master the concepts and skills on these assignments or assessments.

● In addition, students are expected to make up work that is missed due to absences.

Supplies• Supply lists are available on the school website.

• Please let us know if you are needing assistance with obtaining any supplies for your child. Our counselors have supplies including backpacks, available for families going through any special circumstances.

Health & Wellness• All students and staff will wear facemasks when indoors except

for lunch and indoor PE.

• We will emphasize hand washing and hygiene.

• Parents of students demonstrating symptoms of illness will be contacted by the school nurse for pick up. Please do not delay in picking up a sick child for the child’s sake and the well-being of others. Please note we continue to have special COVID protocols for students demonstrating COVID-like symptoms.

• Remember that a child should be 24 hours symptom-free to return to school (fever, diarrhea). COVID-like symptoms have special protocols to follow. School nurse will provide guidance.

Health & Safety• Students will wear masks indoors at all times except while eating. • Masks are not required outdoors.• Drinking fountains closed-There is a new refillable water station,

so please send in a refillable bottle for your child. • Hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, extra face masks, and paper

towels are in all classrooms and in common areas around the campus

• Students with COVID-19 symptoms will be seperated from others and supervised until parent arrives.

• We ask parents to monitor and screen their children at home for possible illness in the morning prior to bringing them to school.

• Outside treats for birthdays should be individually packaged and we encourage, store-bought.

COVID Communication - 2 Ways! Let’s Keep the Communication Lines Open!

• If you believe your child has to quarantine or has been exposed to the COVID Virus, please call our school nurse for guidance on next steps, BEFORE you bring your child into school.

• If your child is considered exposed at school or a close contact to someone who has been identified as COVID positive at school, we will notify you directly.

• Also, if there was a COVID-Positive case in your child's classroom, even if your child has not been considered exposed, we will still inform you via School Messenger Email.

Raptor Sign-In SystemThe Raptor System will screen guests for those who may pose a threat to students.● Sign in 7:00 am – 3:00 pm ● For visitors coming in for meetings, volunteer work, etc. ● Volunteers can work in the workroom, library. We are not having

visitors in the classrooms currently to allow for as much space as possible for the children.

● Must have valid license or state issued i.d. EACH TIME you come on campus.

● Please wear name badge while on campus.● Return name badge before leaving.● There is no access to the building after 4:00 pm unless pre

arranged with a staff member.

ARRIVAL

● Drop off in the loop is from 7:00 am-7:40 am. After 7:45 am, we do not have any more staff on duty in the drop off loop and you will have to park and walk your child into the office. After 7:45 am, your child will be documented as tardy.

● Walking students into the building- Parents may walk their child into the building up until 7:40 only.

● Please have students here by 7:20am if they need breakfast - instruction starts promptly at 7:45am.

● All parents must sit on stage with their students during breakfast.

DISMISSAL

● Car Pick up - We ENCOURAGE everyone to STAY IN their cars. This is the safest, easiest way for us to dismiss the children without crowding. Please have your tag visible through your front windshield with your child’s name and teacher.

● If you walk up, please use the crosswalk. It is not safe to have so many people close to the moving cars in the pick up lines. Let the teacher know that you are taking your child.

● Thank you all for your patience and helping us keep everyone safe at pick up!

Cafeteria Meals● All of our children will have free breakfast and lunch each day

at CC Nation. Parents should sit on stage for breakfast and lunch times with to avoid overcrowding and safe space for everyone. Thank you for your support and understanding.

● Due to limited space, social distancing, increased enrollment, and contact tracing, only 4 seats are available for parents at each lunch period. Only one adult per child is able to join them for their meals.

● Please contact the school office at 210-397-7250 and ask to speak to our cafeteria manager with any questions or concerns regarding meals for your child/children.

● All School lunches are free, but if you would like for your child to have snacks or extra desserts, payments may be made online at www.myschoolbucks.com or at the cafeteria.

● The new MealViewer online interactive menu has launched and can be found at : https://schools.mealviewer.com/

Special DaysBirthdays: Allowed-

● Parents may send goody bags for every child in the class with store bought individually wrapped items to be disseminated at the end of the day by the teacher.

OR

● Parents may send store bought individually wrapped cupcakes/cookies to school for every child in the class. The cupcakes or cookies will be disseminated at the end of the day by the teacher.

Not Allowed-

● Purchasing any meals (pizza, happy meals) for the whole class to celebrate a birthday will not be permitted due to the NISD Administrative Regulation EAD-08. Providing these type of meals will be reserved for the two school classroom parties (Nov. 17, Dec. 17, and End of Year).

● DUE TO COVID- parents are not allowed to join the class for birthdays. Classroom space needs to be saved and used for our students.
