Community College Coalition Bargaining Team August 18, 2010
Our team has been successful holding the
line on management takeaways, and has
made improvements on some articles.
At our August 17-18 sessions we TA’d
(reached tentative agreement) on nine addi-
tional articles:
Article 6 - Performance Evaluations•
Article 7 - Hours of Work•
Article 19 - Leave Without Pay•
Article 21 - Uniforms, Tools and•
Equipment
Article25-LicensureandCertifcation•
Article 29 - Discipline•
Article 30 - Grievance Procedure•
Article 51 - Entire Agreement•
Article 54 - Term of Agreement•
While we are working hard, management
seems to be stalling. In the proposal/
counterproposal process, we’re passing
more articles to management than theyare returning to us. For example, we have
about eight articles on our side of the table
that we are considering, and management
has more than double that amount on their
side.
It’s time to display our strength, unity.
WE ARE ALL THE UNION- Merrie Raymond-Haskey

I was once referred to as
“the union girl.”
My response was “we
are all the union.”
It doesn’t matter if you sit behind a desk
or push a broom. Every person is “the
union.”
Every person can have a voice. Some just
don’t always know where to share that
voice. Bargaining is just one avenue to
have your voice heard.
Wearing a button, wearing a green shirt,
attending a meeting, making a phone call
to legislators - each of these acts make a
difference.
We are all the union!
“Here we sit with only
four days to go and it
seems as if we are not
any closer than the
frstonsomeissues.”

HEALTH CARE ALERT!
“The union’s strength lies with our mem-
bers. Contract gains are not won at the
bargaining table, they are won away from
the table through visible displays of unity
and support of the membership.
“To date, management has not made any
signicant movement on any of the major
issues. It’s time to display our strength...”
Kurt Spiegel, WFSE Lead Negotiato
The Governor wants employees to pay a
bigger share of health care costs.
They want to hike your premiums 117%• .
In health care bargaining (8/24/10),
management formally proposed to raise
premiums from 12% to 26%.
Or,• TRIPLE other health care costs.
The state said the only alternative is
hiking family deductibles from $750
per family per year to $2,100 per fam-
ily per year!
