Business models case studies
(oh, and our v3.0 licences)
![Page 3: CC business models case studies](https://reader035.vdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022062418/5549ee77b4c90518488b516a/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
Why case studies?
CCau doesn’t have the resources for statistical evidence
So focus on qualitative, not quantitative advocacy tools –
teach by example
“What artists need to see before they can feel confident about the licenses are examples of other[s] taking the
licenses; incorporating them into their practices.”

How case studies?
Wiki produced collaboratively with
head office - initially 100, now 250
We do as many as we can – also
encourage students and volunteers
(great way of getting across CC)
Use broad range of examples,
prominent and obscure
Use standard template focusing on
models, motivations and outcomes -
interviews and quotes!http://wiki.creativecommons.org/Case_Studies/SomeRightsReserved

Vol II - Why CI business models?
One of the areas of most interest/debate
Responds to Australia Council for the Arts digital content report –defines ‘business models’ to include:
– new audiences– new domains– new incomes– new support

New Audienceshelping creators connect with and maintain audiences
“It delivers news in a totally new way – unprocessed and raw “from the horse's mouth” . . . it believes in the power
of compelling ideas to propel themselves into political
consciousness if they are able to get exposure and be debated” - Scoop Mission Statement, http://www.scoop.co.nz/about/mission.html

“Brava to Ms. Ono for introducing her work into the
realm of "open culture," this is a brave and significant step. It makes me very happy to see this kind of dialogue and risk-
taking happen with artists whose legacies and cultural influence are as broad as
hers.”– Xeni Jardin, Boing Boing,
