Shanghai, located in the East China Sea coast, mouth of Yangtze River, is

China's largest city. It has an area of about 6,340 square kilometer with the

population of fourteen million.

Many famous interests are located in Shanghai, such as The Bund, the

Oriental Pearl Tower, Yu Garden, Shanghai Expo’2010 pavilions.

Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics

The Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics (SITP) of the Chinese Academy of

Sciences (CAS) was set up in October 1958.

SITP has 723 staffs among whom 554 are researchers including 6 CAS

academicians, 2 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).

There are 400 graduate students and 8 post-doctoral researchers.

SITP is now mainly engaged in the research on advanced airborne and space-

borne payloads, infrared staring imaging and signal processing, infrared focal

plane array and infrared photoelectric devices etc..

Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology (SIMIT) of CAS

was founded in 1928.

SIMIT boasts 2 CAS academicians, 1 CAE academician and 1 NAS academician

of USA. There are totally 800 employees, among whom are 650 scientific and

technical staffs. There are 400 graduate students and 30 post-doctoral

researchers.

SIMIT has made a series of major scientific breakthroughs in broadband

wireless mobile communications, wireless sensor networks, SOI material,

PCRAM, micro/nano sensors, RF and micro-wave integrated systems, biochips,

which is located on the 3rd floor of building No. 5 of Shanghai Institute of

Microsystem and Information Technology (SIMIT) within walking distance

By plane

Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG)

PVG is the Main international airport of Shanghai about 60 km east from downtown.

Connections to the city are available by Subway, by taxi and by meglev.

--From PVG by metro

Take metro line 2 at Pudong International Airport station, then take off at Zhongshan

Park station. And you will have to transfer from 4-carriage train to 8-carriage train at

Guanglan Rd. Station. It is a 5-10 minute walking distance from the stop to SIMIT or

Hotels. The metro line 2 leaves every 10 minutes, from 6:00 in the morning to 23:00 in

the evening. The metro takes about 1 hour with the ticket price of 7 RMB.

--From PVG by taxi

The fee of taxi is 150~200 RMB form airport to the hotel or SIMIT taking about 1 hour.

--From PVG by Meglev (with highest speed of 430km/h, great!)

Take the Meglev at origin station in PVG and get off at the terminal. Then take the taxi to

the hotel or SIMIT. Or one can transfer to subway line 2 at Longyang Rd. station, then

take off at Zhongshan Park station. The fee of the maglev is 50RMB for a single trip.

Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA)

SHA is she second international airport of Shanghai, about 17 km west from

downtown. Subway and taxi are available.

--From SHA by metro

Take metro line 2 at Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2 station, then take off at

Zhongshan Park station. It is a 5-10 minute walking distance from the stop to

SIMIT or Hotels. The metro takes about 20 minutes with the ticket price of 4 RMB.

--From SHA by taxi

The fee of taxi is 30~50 RMB form airport to the hotel or SIMIT taking 30 minutes.

There are three stations in Shnaghai. Shanghai station, Shanghai hongqiao station, and

South shanghai railway station.

--From Railway station by metro

For each train station, they are connected by the Shanghai metro. One can one can

--From Railway station by taxi

The fee of taxi is about 30 RMB from Shanghai station, 40 RMB from Shanghai

hongqiao station, and 60RMB from South shanghai railway station to the hotel or SIMIT.
