CBSE/ICSE Coaching Classes – Board Education

Online Pros & Cons

Summary:

CBSE/ICSE coaching classes are witnessing increased attendance of the students. But is the

situation perfect, and what are the areas for improvement?

A lot of changes have been introduced in the basic evaluation structure prevailing in the school

education in India.

For instance, previously term examinations were the norm. Today, it is the practice to hold periodical

Unit Tests on different subjects and compute the aggregate of the individual marks scored in these

UTs held throughout the year and arrive at an average. The grading system seems to be working

well.

However, the dreaded Board examinations conducted by the two major school education bodies,

namely – Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary

Education) still persist though some changes that have been brought in the evaluation of student’s

performance.

Coaching Classes for Deeper Understanding

Then, there is the support system in the form of the CBSE coaching/ ICSE coaching being

provided by private institutes. The coaching classes are all online and the tutoring is done by

different faculties, not necessarily the student’s own school teachers.

Obviously, there is an urgent requirement for large-scale discussion by expert academicians, and

others if one is to refine and improve the existing structure for board examination online coaching.

The home tuitions offered online as a preparation for successfully clearing the two Board

examinations at the secondary as well as senior secondary levels are doing fine. Still, it is incumbent

upon all stakeholders to understand the pros and cons of availing CBSE and ICSE coaching

classes.

Key aspects of online coaching classes for board exams:

The coaching classes are held after school hours and in strict accordance with the syllabi

prescribed.

Normally, not more than ten students are accommodated in a single group.

Parents prefer a different teacher than their children’s school teachers in order to avoid ‘biased’

treatment for their wards.

Positives of Online Board Exam Coaching

Technology aided tools like interactive White Board are liberally brought into fore by online tutors for

the students.

The online tutorial colleges are the first to implement in real-time any changes in the CBSE/ICSE

syllabi across subjects.

Numerous mock tests, solution of previous years’ question papers and preparation related exams

with immediate feedback help students gaining confidence.

If One Considers the Cons

In attempt to be a successful CBSE/ICSE coaching classes provider, some institutes just teach

with the aim of getting the student clear the exams with flying colors. They hardly provide real

learning to the students.

There is ample scope for online bullying taking place among students. The pressure of Board exams

comes out in this unhealthy form.

If a particular online tutor leaves the job, the students are left mid-way to look out for alternatives.

Not a happy situation to be in.

Still there is plenty of ground to be covered when it comes to online coaching classes for

CBSE/ICSE Board examinations. However, there are some really good institutes that offer face to

face study to the students through the use of innovative educational aids like White Board that make

all the difference for the students and their parents.
