DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION
The Democratic Party Convention which nominated Franklin D. Roosevelt for a third term as President of the United States was thoroughly covered by CBS. Climax of a
long series of Columbia broadcasts from Philadelphia came on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. July 17 and 18, when
CBS brought its audience the direct. on -the-
convention -floor proceedings of the ballot- ing for presidential and vice- presidential candidates. Following the nomination of Henry A. Wallace, Secretary of Agriculture, for the vice - presidency, CBS broadcast an
address by President Roosevelt from the White House to the Convention. Mrs. Roose-
velt, Postmaster General James A. Farley, Speaker William D. Bankhead, Senator James E By rues, Senator Alben Barkley, Senator Carter Glass. and many other out-
standing Democrats were among the public figures heard in CBS broadcasts from the convention city.
