CBI ACADEMY, GHAZIABAD, INDIA

In order to have a well trained human resource, which is the key to attain the organizational goals, as enshrined in the CBI’s motto - Industry, Impartiality and Integrity, CBI Academy was established in 1996 and since then, it has emerged as a major Police Training Institution and has made a mark at the National & International level.

CBI Academy

The Vision of CBI Academy is “Excellence in Training in the fields of Crime Investigation, Prosecution and Vigilance Functioning” and its Mission is “To train the human resources of CBI, State Police and the Vigilance Organizations to become professional, industrious, impartial, upright and dedicated to service of the nation”.

The academy is the focal point of training activities within the organization and is responsible for identification of suitable training programmes, regulation of nominations of trainees and preparation of the Annual Training Calendar.

as Inspectors from nationalized banks of 10 weeks duration.

Foreign Exchange Dealers Association of India (FEDAI), Mumbai at CBI Academy, Ghaziabad.

A 2-days Workshop on Intellectual Property Crimes, Trademark, Infringement & Counterfeiting’ for Inspectors to SsP of CBI and DSP to SsP of State Police.

A 3-days Course on the Investigation of Cases of Antiques, Narcotics & Counterfeit Currencies for the IOs of CBI

A 4-weeks Course on Criminal Intelligence / Investigation Techniques for Police Officers from Sri Lanka on the request of MEA.

Keeping in view, the Vision and Mission, the CBI Academy has strived not only to attain excellence in imparting training to the CBI Officers in the field of Anti-Corruption, Economic Offences and Special Crimes but also to provide inspiration and guidance to police forces and vigilance establishments all over the country.

3. SPECIALIZED TRAINING FOR CBI OFFICERS

During the year 2013, specialized courses on Banking related topics were organized for Senior and Cutting Edge Level Officers (IOs) of CBI at Training Institutes of various Nationalized Banks(PNB, SBI, BoB, BoI, Union Bank, SBT, UCO Bank, Indian Bank ), which were attended by a total number of 107 Officers of CBI.

4. TRAINING OF STATE POLICE OFFICERS AND OFFICERS OF OTHER

ORGANIZATIONS. During the year 2013, CBI Academy conducted the following exclusive courses for Police

Officers of various State Police, Central Para Military Forces and other organizations, on their request.

Workshop on Frauds in Multi Level Marketing Entities and in Collective Investment Scheme for Heads of CIDs/EOWs of the States.

One day Workshop on “Intensive Monitoring of Public Sector Projects through e-tendering. Two Training Programmes on "Vigilance" for Junior and Middle Level Vigilance Officer of

PSUs and Banks. Two Training Programmes for Newly recruited Assistant Enforcement Officers of

Enforcement Directorate. Course on "Anti-Corruption Law & Investigation” was conducted by CBI Academy at Aizwal

(Mizoram) Two Training Programmes on Role of Presenting officers in RDA for Junior and Middle level

officers of public sector. Training Programme for Indian Railway Traffic Service (Probationers) Training Programme on Railway Protection Force (Probationers) Training Programme for Public Prosecutors/ Add. PPs/ Asstt. PPs from State of Assam. Course on “Vigilance” for Chief Vigilance Officers of PSUs, Banks and State ACBs

Total 93 Police Officers from 23 foreign countries participated in various training courses including the INTERPOL Capacity Building Programmes. The following countries represented:- Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, , Nepal, Switzerland, African Nations consisting of Botswana, Ghana, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Togo, Algeria, Burundi, Malawi, Medagascar, Sao tome, Zimbabwe, Rwanda & South Sudan.

2. INTERPOL Training Programme on Pharmaceutical Crime from 08.10.2013 to 10.10.2013 for Law Enforcement Officers from India i.e. from CBI, Drugs Control Organisation and State Police.

CYBER & HI-TECH CRIME INVESTIGATION & TRAINING (CHCIT) CENTRE

Major Achievements

Cyber & Hi-Tech Crime Investigation & Training (CHCIT) centre has been set up at CBI Academy by Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India, during the year 2010 with the purpose of capacity building in the areas of investigation of cyber crime, through training and providing tools and technology. The Centre aims to upgrade Cyber/Hi-Tech Crime investigation capabilities of CBI and also provide world-class training to investigators of CBI, State Police and Law Enforcement Agencies of South Asia and Asia Pacific Region.

SIs BASIC COURSE 2012-13 INVESTITURE CEREMONY OF SUB-INSPECTOR (CADETS) - BATCH – XVI

ON 26.04.2013 Investiture Ceremony of the 16th Batch of Sub-Inspector Cadets of CBI was solemnized at CBI Academy, Ghaziabad on 26.04.2013. Shri Ranjit Sinha, Director CBI was the Chief Guest during the Ceremony. Shri R.K. Dutta, Addl. Director CBI besides other senior officers of CBI and other departments, and the faculty members also attended the ceremony. The family members of the cadets also graced the ceremony.

On this occasion, 77 cadets took the oath to serve the country and to fight the corruption with devotion and sincerity keeping in mind the motto of CBI ‘Industry, Impartiality, Integrity. The glimpses of training & social activity of the cadets during training were shown through “Memory Lanes”.

A batch of Thirty Four Sub-Inspector Cadets reported in CBI Academy, Ghaziabad, on 17.10.2013 for 32 Weeks Institutional Training as under:

1. Institutional Training at CBI Academy (Phase-I) 20 weeks 2. Attachment with the Local Police 4 weeks 3. Attachment with CBI Branch 2 weeks 4. Institutional Training at CBI Academy (Phase-II) 6 weeks

Out of 34 Cadets, 23 are direct recruits through Staff Selection Commission while 11 are departmental. Brief profiles of the Cadets are as under: 1. Direct Recruits (Recruited through SSC) 11 2. INFRASTRUCTURAL INITIATIVES IN 2013 In order to make CBI Academy an ideal training centre for imparting training on various aspects of crime and investigation, new infrastructural initiatives have been undertaken during the year 2013.

The renovation work of 26 rooms of Trainees’ Hostel is completed. The Renovation of 62 Rooms is in Progress.

PHASE - III DEVELOPMENT The Academy has acquired additional 15.38 acres of land from the Ministry of Urban Development. The Land has been demarcated and taken under possession. The Land is proposed to be utilized for the construction of following:

300 Residential Quarters CFSL Building MT Section of CBI Academy Underground Shooting Range Hockey & Football Field Shopping Centre Etc.

CBI ACADEMY’S WEBSITE

CBI Academy has its own website viz., (www.cbiacademy.gov.in ). The website has an exclusive collection of important Acts, which are relevant to CBI Personnel, case laws, Standard Operating Procedures on varied topics of professional interest. A comprehensive database containing Crime Manual, Administration Manual and Policy Division Circulars covering various aspects of CBI functioning has also been made available. Access to exclusive database is password protected and can be logged in by only authorized officers.
