Chris Brown’s branding remainsconsistent throughout the 3 aspectsof media shown below, for the albumF.A.M.E..

• The costume transitions from quirky and stylish (album cover), to smart (magazine and video). The styling of the clothes consistently stay the same, in the sense that it always looks neat; Chris Brown is presented as poised and confident which definitely prevails through his music. Furthermore, the costume assumes a sense of professionalism, yet artistic qualities through the use of accessories. The accessories as well as the setting also help to brighten up the fairly dull colours used.

• Instead of looking away, the artist is employing direct eye-contact, helping to show the confidence in himself as an artist. This device is made use in both the album and magazine cover, also the video. The eye-contact works successfully in line with the smart attire, as it represents masculinity. Despite the romantic love songs he makes, he is still able possess his masculine qualities. This device is made use of , to enable a connection with the audience (fans). It almost allows the audience to feel empathy towards him, through his music and heavy public attention he receives.

• In addition the eye contact given breaks the fourth wall, stepping out of their reality in order to connect with the audience. The shattering of the illusion is to stop the audience from feeling

separate, even more so as he be considered as looking at the female fans, by which they will feel valued.

• Another aspect used to show consistent branding, is the artists’ low haircut. This device invites the audience to believe this male artist is always well groomed. This could be because it fits the ideology of what women find attractive about men, this works in line with the suit which women also find appealing on men. Chris Brown’s songs are often to targeted to females, so this approach will help enhance that audience demographic.

• Mid-shots is a technique which appears to be persistent, indicating that there is importance in not only his appearance or facial expression, but also his body language. The positioning of his body exudes boundless assurance in himself and his sexuality. Which refers back to the breaking of the fourth wall, as he is potentially singing this song to female portion of his support base.
