WELCOME

The City of Council Bluffs is now on Facebook! Becomea fan and find out all your community has to offer.

On behalf of the City of Council Bluffs, I am pleased topresent the 2012 City Fun & Action Guide. Council Bluffsis a strong and resilient community as was shown thispast summer as we survived the flood. Our citizen's cametogether to protect each other from the rising waters toensure that the programs and facilities in this guide couldcontinue. This guide showcases everything that we haveto offer the community, for families, youth and adults alike.

If you haven't seen all the wonderful changes to CouncilBluffs, then you need to make sure you check them outthis summer. The Historic Dodge House has beenrenovated and will be open for tours all summer. TheLibrary has its new parking lot so stop on in and check outa book or the teen center. Several miles of trails have beencleaned off and repair so hop on your bikes or enjoy a walkon them from the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge to theWestern Historic Trails Center or to the new elevatedwalkway at Big Lake.

I know that by the time you get to the back cover of thisguide you will see, and hopefully experience, everythingthat Council Bluffs has to offer you and your family. Withso much going on, it's easy to see why Council Bluffs isthe "Iowa's Spirit!"

Sincerely,Tom HanafanMayor

The Council Bluffs Fire Department is dedicated to protecting the lives and property

of all citizens and visitors to our citythrough prevention

and education.

On September 20, 2010 Council Bluffs suffered the

tragic loss of a 7 year-old child due to a house fire. A

working smoke alarm may have prevented this death.

Every home should have at least one working smoke

alarm, located near the sleeping area of the home.

The Council Bluffs Fire Department is urging you to

check your smoke detectors. If you are unable to check

them call us at the number listed below and we will

check them for you. Further, we would ask that you

“pay it forward” by checking with neighbors and family

members to make sure their smoke alarms work.

If you are in need of a smoke alarm, need one installed or

just need to have the battery replaced, please contact the

Council Bluffs Fire Department by calling or emailing us.
