    Dear Parents,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, as I will

be y our childs teacher for the 2011 -12 academic year. My name

is Mr Chris Boreham and I am an Australian teacher with over

twenty years experience. During this time I have taught widely in

elementary school at all year levels, and have also taught

secondary students up to year eleven.

I have been a teacher at NIST since February 2004, joining the

school to teach a Year 1 class. Since then I have taught Year 4 for

three years in which two years I was leading this team in the role

of co-ordinator. For the past four academic years, I have taught

Year 6 and also led the teaching team as Year Level Co-ordinator.

Prior to coming to NIST, I was Vice Principal at a Year 1-13 school

of three hundred students in rural South Australia. There I was

responsible for managing the staff and students for Years 1-6 as

well as other school administrative duties. I am sure that my

experience in working with students in different types of schools

and many different classes will enable me to assist your childs

    learning.

I am married to Mrs Angela Boreham who is a secondar y English

teacher at NIST. We have two children, Rowan who is in year 12

here at NIST and Georgia who last year completed her IB Diploma

and will shortly start her university studies in Australia. As a

family, we all enjoy traveling, sports and exercising.

This year I aim for your child to consolidate and extend his/her

academic progress and assist them to become independent

    learners. Additionally, students will develop self-confidence;

communication and social skills; personal organization; and

respect for self and others. Learning activities will aim to enthuse

and challenge students, and will emphasise the development of

academic skills and positive, co-operative social attitudes.

Students will be expected to meet high standards in regards to

    attitude, behaviour and effort.

This Year our Academic Assistant in Year 6 will be Ms Siew. She

will assist all year 6 students and teachers throughout the year

    level.

I look forward to meeting all parents in the coming weeks and

greatly appreciate your support in assisting with your childs

learning. Should you need to contact me, please use the email

address below or send a note along with your child so that an

appropriate time for an appointment can be made.

    Yours sincerely,

    Chris Boreham
