The Koalas took part in a Claymation workshop in Week 4 and had a wonderful time creating their animations. This was the culmination of many weeks’ work in English, technology and Visual Arts and the class is very proud of their final products. When they return from Bathurst, they are planning a movie afternoon for the other classes and parents. Yesterday’s Book Week parade was a great success. All the children looked fabulous in their costumes and many of them stayed in character for the whole day. Thank you to the parents who went to so much trouble with the costumes and to Mrs Hillier who showed great skill and creativity in making the astronaut outfits for the staff. Book week activities continue throughout the week, with the Book Fair and a visit from the Wollondilly librarians. Mr Lee has now officially retired and was very appreciative of his farewell assembly and afternoon tea. Many thanks to the parents and ex-students who came along to the special celebrations and to wish Mr Lee well in his retirement. On Thursday and Friday this week Mr Willcocks and I will be at Bathurst with the Years 5 and 6 students, hopefully finding a fortune in the goldfields. In our absence Mrs Garbutt, Ms Barlow and Mrs Napoleone will be at the school teaching the Possums, Wallabies and Year 4 students. Enjoy the week. Special

reminder:

Next week’s assembly will be held on Tuesday 27 August, at 9.00 am and will be run by the Library Monitors.

19 August, 2013 Week 6, Term 2, 2013

FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK: Dear Parents and Friends of Cawdor PS

The term is continuing to be extremely busy with many exciting and

unique learning opportunities for the children. The Koalas took part in

a Claymation workshop in Week 4 and had a wonderful time creating

their animations. This was the culmination of many weeks’ work in

English, technology and Visual Arts and the class is very proud of their

final products. When they return from Bathurst, they are planning a

movie afternoon for the other classes and parents.

Yesterday’s Book Week parade was a great success. All the children

looked fabulous in their costumes and many of them stayed in

character for the whole day. Thank you to the parents who went to so

much trouble with the costumes and to Mrs Hillier who showed great

skill and creativity in making the astronaut outfits for the staff. Book

week activities continue throughout the week, with the Book Fair and a

visit from the Wollondilly librarians.

Mr Lee has now officially retired and was very appreciative of his

farewell assembly and afternoon tea. Many thanks to the parents and

ex-students who came along to the special celebrations and to wish Mr

Lee well in his retirement.

On Thursday and Friday this week Mr Willcocks and I will be at

Bathurst with the Years 5 and 6 students, hopefully finding a fortune

in the goldfields. In our absence Mrs Garbutt, Ms Barlow and Mrs

Napoleone will be at the school teaching the Possums, Wallabies and

Year 4 students.

Enjoy the week.

Kind Regards

Ms Sharon Ihlein

Cyberbullying - prevention tips for parents The statistics around cyberbullying are sketchy, mainly because it often goes unreported. What we do know is that the likelihood of children being bullied online or over the phone increases as they get older and use technology more frequently. Find out more: http://www.schoolatoz.nsw.edu.au/technology/cyberbullying/say-no-to-cyberbullying How much screen time? ‘Screen time' used to mean how many hours you spent watching TV and playing on the computer. However, with the growing number of digital devices on offer today, the question of what screen time means now is far more complex.
