Hello, Cats & Company families! This year is VERY different for hair and makeup due to our CATS & CO. theme! It’s going to look amazing and we are really getting excited for the shows! The makeup is actually fun to do and does not have to be purrfect (sorry ☺) to look incredible onstage. There are 3 ways you can choose to do this depending on your comfort level.

1. Recommended: View attached pictures and tutorials and just go for it! It really is fun and easier than you think.

2. During our rehearsals next week, Drea Pittman – one of our cat mom’s – will be available to give tutorials/helpful hints. We will send out a note with her available times.

3. Sign up to have Drea and our other assistant do your makeup on show day (Saturday). There will be a sign up sheet at the studio next week during rehearsals.

Because we have well over 100 cats, we hope that many of you will be comfortable and have fun doing your cat or dog. However! We understand that it can be daunting and we want you to know we have people here and available if you need it! Below you will find:

MAKE UP NEEDS You can actually do this makeup without buying anything (except maybe white…that’s the only one most of us don’t have lying around!) You can use eyeshadow or blush as face coloring and contouring, pencil or liquid eyeliner for the markings, etc. I mean it when I say it doesn’t have to be perfect. If you’d like more to work with, below is the list of useful items. These are brands we liked and are readily available at Target or Walmart, but any brand will work. White and black or brown are needed for everyone, other colors can be decided by parents/dancers in keeping with your cat costume color/style.

NYX fat eyeliner pencils * black * white * orange/brown/gray (if needed) Liquid eyeliner * black Elf finishing powder * white Elf eye shadow * black * Any other color you need in powder form. (Brown, orange, gray) Sponge and brush applicators

PICTURES OF POSSIBLE HAIRSTYLES There is a ton of latitude for hair this time! The only thing we ask is that the style you choose stays back off of your face. We’re looking for big, teased, over the top styles. The only exception is BALLET 3/3A ~ we recommend you do the Gwen Stefani style knots as shown. You can do more, less, etc. Just a little bit more pulled back.
