    Generative Dynamic Response Analysis

    Interactive capability to predict and analyze the dynamic response of asystem.

    Product overview

    While GPS and GAS allow designers tounderstand the vibration characteristics of their designs by calculating the modes andnatural frequencies, GDY takes this a stepfurther by allowing users to study theresponse of their designs to dynamic loading.

    This allows designers to ensure early in thedesign phase that their designs do not sufferfrom resonance and other dynamic effects.

    GDY provides both transient and harmonicanalysis. Transient analysis allows theresponse of the structure to be determinedfor loading that varies quite generally withtime. Harmonic analysis allows the responseof the structure to be calculated for loadingthat varies with frequency.

    consistent user interface at any time in thedesign process. Dynamic analysis can beperformed on solid, surface, and wire framegeometry, as well as hybrid assemblies. Theassociation of the analysis specifications, suchas loads and restraints, with the design allowsusers to work quickly and consistently. WithGDY, designers can ensure that their designsare sized appropriately for dynamic loadingearly in the development cycle, saving timeand improving quality.

    structure in either the time or frequencydomain. Time domain, or transient, analysisallows the time variation of the loading to bedefined and GDY calculates the transient

    response of the structure, the output typicallybeing the time variation of the displacementsand stresses in the structure. Frequencydomain, or harmonic, analysis allows thefrequency variation of the magnitude of theload to be defined. GDY assumes the loadingvaries harmonically and calculates themagnitude of the displacements and stressesat each frequency. Excitation of the structureby dynamic motion of its restraints is alsosupported and both modal and Raleighdamping can be defined to represent theenergy absorption of the structure as itvibrates.

    Efficient modal solution method

    GDY uses an efficient modal superpositiontechnique to calculate the dynamic response.

    This allows the rapid solution of many loadcases, but requires that the response of thestructure is linear.

    Tools to easily interpret the dynamicresponseGDY provides a number of tools to helpvisualize and interpret the dynamicresponse of the structure. These includeanimation of the deformation of thestructure and of contours of thedisplacements and stresses, as well as theability to plot curves showing the time orfrequency variation of the response atpoints on the structure.
