Tel: 383 8625 Dear Parishioners, What do you think is the most precious gift a person can have after faith? The gift of wisdom - without it we will not fully understand the depth, the breadth, the width of God’s love for us. On being told that he could have anything he wanted from God, Solomon asked for the gift of wisdom. God was pleased with his request and granted it to him. However, if acquired at all, wisdom is acquired gradually and often painfully. Did we not realise our true treasure lay during the Covid Lock Down in family, in the gift of life and of course in God? Through the gift of wisdom God communicates to us the meaning of life, and the awesomeness of our destiny, which is ultimately to be with God. Wisdom then is truly the pearl of great price. It means knowing what the most important things in life are. It means also to see life from God’s point of view and being able to live the life God wants us to live. Part of a reflection called ‘At the end of the day’, by Flor McCarthy. Each day we cast our net into the sea of life. And at the end of the day we have a catch, sometimes small, sometimes large. May we take time to sift through that catch. And may you Lord, give us the wisdom to know what to keep and what to throw away. With every blessing Fr Doug

The kingdom is here, it returns, it struggles to flourish anew. Christ’s resurrection everywhere calls forth

seeds of that new world; even if they are cut back, they grow again, for the resurrection is already secretly

woven into the fabric of this history.

Canticle of Sirach

Sunday26thJulyMorningPrayer

In comparing the reign of God to the merchant’s

quest, Jesus shows us God’s priorities. In comparing it to the buried treasure, he asks

us what our priorities are. Solomon, choosing wisdom over wealth, models a truly

biblical scale of values.
