Climate change is happening, and it is changing our world.

Every time we burn fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas, they release greenhouses gases into our atmosphere.

These gases are causing our planet to get warmer.

And when our planet gets warmer, we will see more extreme weather events. More droughts and more flooding.

Scientists have told us what we need to do. We must stop adding to climate change.

Because if our planet warms up more than 1.5 degrees, climate change will leave more people hungry, cause more floods, and millions of people around the world will have to leave their homes and move somewhere else.

To stop adding to climate change, we have to reach ‘net zero’ emissions.

‘Net zero’ means keeping things in balance.

It means cutting the amount of greenhouse gases we put into the atmosphere and replace old polluting technology with new greener technology.

And making sure that any gases we do release can be removed, for example by planting more trees that lock away them away.

It’s not easy. But it can be done. It will mean working together to build a safer future for everyone.

A future where we power our schools with new green energy. We power our homes with solar panels. And we switch to environmentally friendly cars. And we eat less meat.

These are just some of the ways that we can care for our common home.

For these changes to happen we must raise our voice and tell people in our Government that we really care about our future, and that climate change matters to us.

Because by working together, we can look after our beautiful world and help build a brighter future for everyone.
