Our Mission As an assembly empowered by the glory of the Resurrection, we are committed to one another and to the tradition of the Catholic Church in celebrating the Seven Sacraments, the Sacred Liturgy, proclaiming the Good News through Education, sustaining the community of Faith, and promoting Charity, Peace and Justice for all people, now and forever.

Baptisms Parents must be registered in the parish and attend Mass regularly. Parents and godparents are required to attend a pre-Baptism class. The next class will be held on Sunday, October 20th, at 5:00 PM in Room 3 at Saint Patrick. Please RSVP to the Parish Office before attending the class.

Sacrament of Marriage A couple wishing to be married in Saint Patrick Church or Saint James Church must contact the parish six months prior to the intended wedding date.

A LITTLE FAITH

Today our readings are about faith, frustration, and how much is enough. Habakkuk is a complainer having an argument with God. Timothy is encouraging a community challenged by cowardice and the apostles want more faith than they have. Things aren’t happening fast enough for any of them or for us. All of them and we want God to do something sooner rather than later and we want God to give us a reason to believe that it will all work out. What does God do? God puts it back on them—and us—telling Habak-kuk to describe the world he wants; telling the apostles to do more than the expected. Doing more with less is a familiar phrase today and a reminder that a little faith may be enough even for the most difficult times.

The Nomadic shelter provides a safe haven for our homeless sisters and brothers during the harsh winter months of November through March. Funds raised are used for transportation of our guests, maintenance of vehicles, gas & oil, insurance, purchase of blankets and mats, food items and other necessities. The fundraiser includes a dinner of pasta, Italian sausage, salad, garlic bread and dessert. Tickets will be sold after this weekend’s Masses for $25 each. You can also purchase tickets online by going to hangtownhaveninc.org (don’t forget to include the ‘inc’ part). Once there, click on the ‘buy now’ button and follow the instructions. If you are unable to attend the dinner you can also make a donation at the same website and click on ‘donate’. Tickets will also be sold at the door at Holy Trinity. Please join us on October 12th at Holy Trinity, doors open at 5:00 p.m. Questions: please call Paul Kodelja at 530-363-6524 or email at [email protected]. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

Understanding how God wants us to live while on Earth is critical in my opinion. Right behavior is modeled for us in the Bible by Jesus himself. Many of the examples of Jesus' behavior contained in the scriptures involve helping others. Being a Knight means striving towards this goal and following the example of Jesus by helping others.

Please pray about becoming a Knight of Columbus. Perhaps this will help you in your Christian walk as much as it has me.

Sincerely,

Keith Flaherty, Grand Knight, Monsignor Hayes Council

NEWS FROM FAITH FORMATION

NEW!! The children enrolled in Faith Formation

are now asked to use special Offertory Envelopes. These have been distributed in the classes. Extra copies are available in the vestibule for any children who would like to use them.

Thank you for encouraging the children to become active disciples by learning stew-ardship in our parish community.

This is a special event for all ages! The retreat is presented in English and in Spanish. The retreat will begin at 10:00 a.m., concluding with

the 4:00 p.m. Mass. Tickets are available after Masses this weekend

through October 20th.
