BHI Class: Marriage & Family
Dates: Mar. 5, 12, 19, & 26 Time: 6:30pm Instructor: Dino Durando
Register: www.MyBHI.org Place: St. Andrew’s School Rm 133
Description: This course provides an intro to the Catholic understanding of marriage and family. The family is the foundation of human culture and society, and the Christian family has an important role in building up a culture of life for the good of all society. This course explores the meaning of human sexuality, the origin of marriage “in the be-ginning,” its exclusivity and indissolubility, and its elevation as a Sacrament of the new covenant by Christ. We will explore the beauty of the Church’s teachings on marital, sexuality, and procreation from the texts of the Second Vatican Council, and recent magisterial teachings. The Church’s teachings on marriage, sexuality, and family reveal the beauty and goodness of marital love as an image of Divine Love, and assist spouses in fully realizing their call-ing to follow Christ.
Cost: BHI reduced the price of tuition to only $25 per course or $40/married couple! Students can save even more money if they want to pre-pay for the year of courses. It is $150/individual or $240/married couple. As always, if a student cannot afford a course they can request a scholarship, and we will not turn them away. For more information, please visit MyBHI.org, email [email protected], or (816) 714-2331.

On the Eve of Lent…
Mardis Gras has historical significance with the lunar calendar! All moms and grandmothers are welcome!
This talk will be about mothers, and our model is the Blessed Mother particularly--Like the morning star in the midst of the cloud and as the moon at its full, she shines (Eccl. 50,6). The blessed Mary is said to be the full moon, because in every way she's per-fect. Please join us for what is to be sure a wonderful evening! BABYSITTING IS AVAILABLE AT NO CHARGE (with enough ad-vance notice)!
Topic: “A” is for Atmosphere
Mom is the caretaker of a huge, wonderful, potentially beautiful, critically important place! She, herself, this actual, unique person, is the single most important ‘environment’ in the lives of her children. Like Mary, like the Church, she is an atmosphere.
She is an atmosphere of affection. This is not just warm, fuzzy feelings, but her capacity to be affected, to be moved. Home is Mom’s joy infused into persons, like grace. She is an acoustic atmosphere. Think of all the sounds she makes besides yelling, "Off with their heads!” now and then! Home is Mom’s voice lifting persons toward God. She is an aesthetic atmosphere. All the order and beauty, color, line, pattern, radiance, and integrity of the environment she is, and the environment she creates, is the child’s first taste of love-in-formed. Home is Mom wrapped around persons like Love. For more information about Charlotte, please go to http://www.charlotteostermann.com/

Apostles of the Interior Life Parish Mission
Topic: Evening mission talks on the life of prayer
Dates: March 15, 26, 17 * Time: 7pm - 8:30pm
Loca on: St. Charles Borromeo Parish
Whether on mission or at home, the Apostles of the Interior Life spend four hours each day in prayer as the foundation of their conse-crated life. The Apostles will focus on teaching that deep, meditative prayer to our parish community during this parish mission. Formed by the spirituality of St. John of the Cross, St. Teresa of Avila, and St. Igna-tius of Loyala, among others, the Apostles offer a depth of prayer and spirituality that specifically teaches meditation and contemplation. Lis-tening to God’s inner voice of Divine Love; discerning the affective movements of the inner human heart; conversing personally with God and receiving that refreshing affirmation of His presence and direction in the fruits of the Holy Spirit are some of the topics the Sisters will present during mission. Ques ons? Contact Adult Faith Director Benja-
min Darnell at (816) 436-0880 ext. 214 or [email protected].
