Arch. Synod What’s Your Opinion? As part of our participation in the Archdiocesan Synod 2021, Archbishop Hebda has invited Nativity of Our Lord parishioners to participate in the Disciple Maker Index (DMI) Survey. This survey is being conducted through each parish in the archdiocese February 1 - March 1 both online and through hard copy surveys. The survey encourages people to reflect on two main themes: individual spiritual growth, and engagement with the parish. To that end, the survey collects information on Attitudes & Beliefs, Relationships & Satisfaction, Participation, and Demographics. ALL INFORMATION COLLECTED IS COMPLETELY CONFIDENTIAL. NO INDIVIDUAL RESPONSES ARE EVER MONITORED. The results will be shared with Nativity so we can learn and understand the perspective of our parishioners and best support everyone in their discipleship journeys. They data will also be integrated with the work of our Synod Ambassador Team, which is a group of parishioners working as a group liaison to the Archdiocesan Synod, as well as the ongoing One Nativity 2035 planning effort. The information will also be utilized by the Archbishop as he discerns what focus areas to select this spring for the Synod. Parish Secretary — and 36-year marketing research vet — Tim Huberty will be coordinating the survey here at Nativity. Contact Tim for more information at [email protected] or (651) 696-5401. Pre-Synod Discussions In addition to the anonymous surveys, Archbishop Hebda wants to hear directly from all of you! Please prayerfully consider attending an upcoming Prayer and Listening Event with him as part of the Pre-Synod Process, and make your voice heard. Your input will help guide the Archdiocese over the next 5-10 years. There are 20 Prayer and Listening Events, including:

Tuesday, 1/28, 6–9pm at Pax Christi in Eden Prairie Saturday, 2/1, 9am–noon at St. Stephen, Minneapolis Saturday, 2/15, 9am–noon at Lumen Christi, St. Paul

More information is available at https://www.archspm.org/synod. Stay tuned for an update from the Nativity of Our Lord synod team in late winter.

There will also be a complimentary donut reception following Mass. Bioethics Presentation - February 4, 5 Come hear renowned speaker, filmmaker, and author Jennifer Lahl, president of the Center for Bioethics and Culture Network, discuss the health risks, legal ramifications, and moral imperatives of surrogacy and third-party-assisted technologies. She will present “Modern Handmaid’s Tale: The Ethics of Surrogacy, Egg Donation, and Beyond” on Tuesday, February 4 at St. Odilia in Shoreview and on Wednesday, February 5 at the U. of St. Thomas, from 7–9pm both nights. The events are free and open to all, and no registration is necessary. Visit https://www.stodilia.org/Page/10#calendar1536/20200204/event/8857 or http://www.argumentclub.org for more information. ACCW Legislative Day 2020 - February 8 Do you wonder what the Catholic stance is on legislative issues? All men and women are invited to join the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women for the 2020 Legislative Day at St. Michael’s in St. Michael on Saturday, February 8 from 8:30am-noon. Respect Life Book Discussion - Tuesday, January 28, 6-8pm All are welcome to join us in reading and discussing Redeemed by Grace, A Catholic Woman's Journey to Planned Parenthood and Back by Ramona Trevino with Roxanne B. Salonen. "In her enthralling, page-turning memoir, Ramona reveals, 'God had been leading me, step-by-step, to this moment of mercy.’ As she recounts her journey out of Planned Parenthood, you won't want to put the book down." — Donna Marie Cooper O'Boyle, EWTN TV host We will meet to discuss this inspiring read this Tuesday evening in Steiner Hall and enjoy fellowship and a potluck supper. Limited copies are available for sale ($7) or loan. Contact Karen McCann at (612) 964-4522 or [email protected] to get yours and to RSVP.

2nd Collections St. Vincent de Paul Society - January 25-26 In this Sunday’s Gospel, we find that Jesus “went around all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and curing every disease and illness among the people.” In 2019, through your gifts, the Nativity Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to proclaim the good news of the kingdom to the poor, by assisting 55 families, providing:

Rent Assistance $11,920.12 Food Assistance $703.98 Transportation Assistance $1,197.09 Furniture $580.00 Other Assistance $1,916.73

Thank you for your contribution to the St Vincent DePaul second collection today and your prayers for our Saint Paul neighbors! Thank you for your continued support of the Nativity Conference of St. Vincent DePaul, and please refer to the insert in this bulletin for more information.

Retrouvaille — French for “To Discover” — is a 100% confidential lifeline for troubled marriages. Since 1977, over 40,000 marriages have been saved as couples learn the tools to rediscover each other and heal their marriage. Bring back the joy to your marriage! Join us for a life-changing retreat designed to energize the romance in and renew the joy of being married. Living in Love, founded by Brad and Libby DuPont, offers liberating insight into how differently men and women prefer to achieve intimacy and helps couples get in touch with the resources that draw them to each other and fuel their romance. Living in Love provides an extraordinary opportunity for married couples to reconnect with their own love history through private couple time, brief communal prayers, and a renewal of vows. There is no large group discussion or open sharing. Visit https://www.archspm.org/nmr/ for more information or to register. Marriage Encounter - February 7-9 Give to your spouse the gift that keeps on giving for generations to come! Plan to attend the next Marriage Encounter weekend to discover a new and deeper love for each other. Weekends are held at Mount Olivet Conference and Retreat Center in Farmington, MN. Service Super Sock Sunday - February 1-2 Many homeless Minnesotans suffer dearly during the winter months. One item in particular is greatly appreciated — socks. The 6th-7th-8th Grade Nativity Social Justice Club is collecting new socks at all Masses next (Super Bowl) weekend. You will find collection boxes near each of the church doors. The collection for socks will continue through Friday, February 7, in a box just outside the school office. So when you are at the store picking up your Super Bowl snacks, please consider picking up a pack of socks, too. Thank you for your generosity and continued care for those in need!
