  • PROMISE FULFILLED. Isaiah reminds the people of God that the land shall be restored to their possession, they shall rejoice to see their people return from the bondage of exile, and they shall be a light to the nations. In other words, through the people of Israel, the Savior shall

come to all people who seek God with a sincere heart. This brings joy and the radiance of God’s glory to all the world and to all people everywhere. Through the fidelity of the people of God, and through God’s fidelity to them, all people shall become God’s children and rejoice in the fulfillment of God’s promise to Israel.

With Father Dennis unable to celebrate Masses with us due to COVID-19, SignpGenius in place, volunteers cleaning and sanitizing after each Mass, masks and safe distancing all made Christmas 2020 look and feel different this year. But the love, hope and joy of

the celebration of the birth of Jesus remained the same! We thank the many who helped make the Christmas Masses still special, from the decorating, to the music, to the ministries, to the liturgies!

GIVING TREE 2020. Many, many thanks to all parishioners who participated in this year’s Giving Tree. Even though there were no ornaments to pick from, no presents to buy, there was an outpouring of love from the parishioners to make this Christmas a little brighter for others. Special thanks to

Barbara & Bruce Thompson who once again coordinated this effort (their 23rd year!). The various groups receiving the gift cards were the We Care Center, Little Mountain Elementary School, SisterCare, and White Oak Manor. As in years past, they were most grateful and appreciative! Thanks again for helping make their Christmas special!

MASS INTENTIONS NEEDED FOR ALL MASSES for 2021. It is a Catholic custom of long standing to have a Mass celebrated for the repose of the soul of deceased friends and relatives, in thanksgiving for a prayer answered, or other

special intentions. Please contact the Parish Office if you would like to schedule a Mass.

Our Lady of the Lake hopes to begin a support/hope group for those who have lost a loved one. Seasons of Hope is a unique support group rooted in Catholic tradition which coveys God’s consolation, through scripture, prayer, reflection and sharing our faith. Anyone who is interested in the group please contact Ann Douglas at

    (803) 429-2914 or [email protected] if you would be interesting in being a part of this support group. Date and time to be announced.

Sew Blessed Sews simple handmade items that are intended as gifts of love, hope, and comfort for people with special needs. God has used this ministry to touch the lives of countless people who have received these items while enduring

a difficult time in their lives. They truly bring joy and relief to those suffering. Volunteers are needed to cut, stuff polyester filling, iron, sew, assemble prayer cards or deliver these items. Meets in St. Ignatius Hall every third Monday of the month from 1:00-2:30p.m. Next Meeting January 18, 2021. Contact Linda Milliff 803-422-3760, [email protected] or Rose Marie Schmedding 803-932-7113, [email protected] or [email protected].

The Vigil Mass on Saturday is offered in loving memory of Liz Drexelius at the request of the Drexelius Family. The Mass at 8:00 a.m. is offered as a

Special Inten on for Healing for Mike Milliff. The Mass at 10:30 a.m. is offered in loving memory of her son, Greg Schelble, on his birthday (December 29th), at the request of Rose Schelble. The Sunday Evening Mass at 5:00 p.m. is offered as a Missa Pro Populo (Mass for the People).

Today, we celebrate the Epiphany of our Lord. The Gospel account of the three magi traveling to meet Baby Jesus is one that we know well. Yet, when we pause to reflect on this moment when these men met Christ for the first me, we recognize that there is much to be said for us s ll today.

When the magi entered the house, it says, “they saw the child with Mary his mother. They prostrated themselves and did him homage.” Clearly these men knew that they were in the presence of their King. They also came bearing gi s of gold, frankincense and myrrh, which symbolize Christ’s kingship, divinity and humanity. Christ is s ll manifes ng Himself to us today. We enter God’s house weekly, and we are in His presence. When we meet Him, do we offer Him our gi s — our me, talent and treasure? As Chris an stewards, we are called to respond with love, reverence and gra tude. Let us prepare our hearts to receive Christ’s many manifesta ons in our lives. We just need a grateful disposi on to receive them.

    [email protected]

Flowers for the Altar Flowers on the altar this weekend were provided by Chris & Mary Christopher in honor of Rachael Berger, as she celebrates her Birthday (January 2nd); and, by Henry & Mary Lees in loving memory of Susan

    & Henry Lees, Sr.

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!! The 2021 Book to sign up for ALTAR FLOWERS can be found on the credenza in the Vollkommer Bell Tower. Sign up to commemorate a special occasion, as a memorial to a loved one's passing, or simply to help adorn the altar.

Many Thanks to all parishioners who donated poinsettias to adorn our altar this Holy Season. There will be an Insert in the Bulletin next weekend listing the intended Memorials/Honorees.

As we near the end of the calendar year, now is the time when many people consider their year end giving for tax purposes. Please remember the church when you review your giving for the year. This is also a good time to prayerfully

review your current level of giving and to consider increasing your weekly gift to the church, especially if you not made any adjustments for several years. Perhaps now is the time to consider increasing your giving?

    WILL YOU CONSIDER ONLINE GIVING?

Not surprisingly, our weekly collections have been impacted by this crisis. If you are receiving Father Dennis' Constant Contact emails, you know the details). Donating Online allows the church to operate with a more consistent revenue stream, and saves

time and money for those involved in processing bank deposits. It will save you time too! You can individually donate to "Special Envelope" offerings as well. Go to ollchapin.org/online-giving and click on "Choose Here to Give" image.

December 14, 2020-December 20, 2020 Offertory figures will be printed in next week’s Bulletin.

    IMMACULATE CONCEPTION: $891.00 Many Thanks!
